Most definitely one of if not the most fun vehicle I have owned in a long time! '16 Granite Crystal High Altitude.

Just a couple observations and a request for comment:

I love the voice texting ability. Works virtually flawlessly for me every time. However, not being able to disable the 'Sent from Uconnect Jeep' tag line is troubling, not to mention it eats up precious text msg length. Hopefully Jeep will reconsider that position and allow us to remove the tag.

Uconnect - I use Spotify on my phone daily through Bluetooth using my Samsung 6 EdgePlus. Connectivity is stable but many times the display will not update song information. It gets stuck on the first song that played. Usually if I disconnect BT and reconnect it will correct itself, but not always.

Navigation - I live in Southern Calif and the inability to tell Navigation to NOT use Toll Roads in route calculation is frustrating. My VERY old Garmin 2600 Nav unit had this basic option. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Adaptive Cruise Control and southern Cal freeways were made for each other! Cannot emphasize enough how much driving stress it relieves.

Sidenote on ACC - while cruising down the freeway and letting it slow and speed up my jeep with heavy traffic, I'm wondering how much actual braking compared to engine braking is going on. IOW, am I driving the people behind me crazy because the jeep is braking every time a car moves into my lane and the jeep slows in order to keep proper car length setting? It seems a bit aggressive at times in backing off if a car merges into my lane ahead of me. Any idea if it is actually applying the brakes or just letting of the gas, which is what I would probably be doing if I was managing the braking? Combination of the two? Just trying to get a better understanding of the mechanics behind the system.

I miss the Hemi in my Chrysler 300 as I have the 6 cyl in the jeep. It does OK though and gas mileage is averaging just over 22mpg during the break-in period (2000 miles on the jeep)

Air Suspension "feels" better to me than the non 4x4 I test drove. Glad I have it.

Overall, this jeep rocks!

Doug

Re: It's been 3 weeks now with new 2016 HA

I seem to recall an avoid tolls option in my 2014 nav system. Never used the option, but I think it is there. Would not expect that to be deleted in 2016 so double check for it!

With ACC on in mine it sure feels like the brakes are being applied not just down shifting.

ACC is an excellent system and overall works well. You do need to learn how it works and be able to kind of work with it if you will, or interact with it in certain situations. In the situation you described I either cancel ACC or have my foot on the gas enough to override ACC. When you do this the screen states that you are overriding it and it won't apply brakes or slow down more. Then when proper distance is achieved I let it work on its own again. Try that out and see how it works for you. Otherwise if you don't do this then you'll have to deal with people pulling in front of you and the Jeep will just keep slowing to get the desired spacing.

+1 on the ACC. This is my favorite option by far. I was leery of it's benefit but it absolutely removes the stress of driving in traffic. Amazing.

I test drove a Limited & Overland/Summit models. I agree the air suspension is better..,.. and for the price difference, it'd better be.

I hate the ACC. I hate front collision as well. I just want to be in control of my driving experience. These changes might save some lives, but they are super annoying to me.

Yes, all ACC and FCW brake applications illuminate the brake lights.

Just curious, how in the world could ACC be annoying? I find that having to constantly adjust a regular cruise control speed on a full speed, moderately crowded highway to be super annoying. And ACC completely cures that! It works flawlessly on mine.

As for the FCW, I was beginning to think mine wasn't working, because I had it set to FAR and couldn't get it ever activate. Then one day, at the precise moment I turned my head to the left to look at the car next to me, the guy in front of me jammed on his brakes due to a last second right-turner. My radio silenced, alarm sounded, brakes applied, and saved my bacon. I would have hit him for sure without it. Other than that time, I haven't had any false alarms or problems at all with FCW. I'm very glad and thankful to have it.

I can, however, understand why someone might not like it if it's giving too many false alarms...especially with unexpected, hard brake application.

Well if you hate the ACC system, you must really despise regular old Cruise Control.

Of course, you don't need to ever use ACC or regular cruise control. That is what your FOOT is for. You can also disable FCW (Forward Collision Warning).

I disabled FCW and don't plan on ACC either. I hate that I paid for them, but lesson learned.

Good luck with that lesson. By the time you get your next new vehicle, I'm sure it'll be a standard feature. Quite frankly, I like it. But to each their own.

The option to set the road type preference/avoidance is there just intuitive. Set up a destination and just before you press the green YES button, you have to additional buttons on the bottom row. I cannot recall right now if they are labeled AVOID and OPTIONS. or Menu and Options but it is on that screen - after you input your address and before you accept the route.
