Are you out of factory warranty? If not it should have been free.

Well, it isn't a warranty item exactly. The original dipstick was 'working' so I didn't bother to even ask.

Re: Its the dipstick! On the hemi

Well apparently people aren't reading my post on the other page. If the vehicle is under factory warranty provide them the VIN and TSB number and they will order it free of charge. Again, just trying to save people money, but for some reason everyone is still ordering them on their own.

It's not working correctly. It's the "wrong" part by their own admission. Now they proved it because they supposedly have a "right one". You shouldn't have to pay for their mistakes.

Re: Its the dipstick! On the hemi

Picked up my new, updated(AD) dipstick. Dealership had it overnighted. And yes, the oil level shows about one quart over the 'full' mark due to the 7+ quarts used in the last oil change. You'll have to take my word for that as I didn't want to take a pic with oil on the dipstick but I did take 2 pics that show the difference in the sticks.

Not shown in my pics but they chose to leave the ENGINE Icon off of the top of the stick.

Awesome, sounds like it will for sure take care of the problem. Hey, as long as it shows at the full mark after an oil change to correct capacity it will make me happy. I was a little curious when I bought my brand new Summit and it showed half way down the hash mark lines. I was like humm thats kind of weird lol.

It came today and oil level is now reading correct with new dipstick. I put 7.5 in on the last oil change so now i read a half quart over filed instead of half quart under filled.

Good deal. I'm going to have to get one. Did it come in a cardboard tube?

No it came curled up in a little box which i didnt like but it straightened out fine so no big deal i guess. It reads how it should so im happy. So if you order from where i posted above tell them in a side note on the order not to curl up in box.

Did it straighten out on it's own, or did you have to bend it straight?

I had to coax it back in shape a little, no tight bends in it though. When i saw the box i was ready to send back but rap a rag around it put it on the counter press down hard on the rag and pull it through a few times and it was normal.

Re: Its the dipstick! On the hemi

I am impressed that you folks are able to remove your dip sticks, read the number and insert the replacement sticks yourselves because the TSB says it requires a level 8 technician at the dealership. Therefore I assume that technicians levels 1 thru 7 are ... well ... not qualified is a pc way of saying it.
