It's kind of hard to publish a "reliability" survey that isn't a few years old. There are some that measure initial problems, but they don't prove or disprove reliability.

Somebody mentioned that people complain about minor things. Although I think JD Powers does use some kind of filters, people make the same complaints across all brands. Jeep did not fare well. But that doesn't mean that later models, hopefully the 14's, won't do much better.

Maybe they do have filters to take out minor complaints and these issues are large (electrical, mechanical etc.) and not a tab broke in a door. Speaking of which, I have a broken tab in my door I need to get looked at lol.

Yeah that was my fault I totally didn't even think about that. They couldn't possibly get accurate results if the test was only a year or two old. The only issue is unfortunately it makes the current Grand Cherokee look bad because that's exactly what people will assume the test is about when in reality this test was on a previous generation. Although in the 10,000 miles I owned my 2012 Overland the vehicle was flawless, I would imagine from what I read on the forums that if this test was done on a WK2 the results would be so so.

Re: J.D. Power dependability results

While it is true that the VDS is on 2010 model year cars, the fact that Jeep (and Chrysler/Dodge) also do poorly on the initial quality survey concerns me.
