I always park towards the back. Pretty common to come out and find another jeep next to me. Dont think a granny would walk the quarter mile or so to the store when i barely want too lol.

I'm gonna dispel your notions right now. I INTENTIONALLY park next to other jeeps and I have a grand cherokee. Therefore it is not purely a "coincidence"

What's true in KY is not true in IL.

I will restate the obvious: if in KY, on the base, people go gaga over a Grand Cherokee, in Chicago people don't care about mass ownership of Jeep or a Grand Cherokee. Don't take it personal, it is the way it is here. I have a Jeep and it is fancy and got all the electronics. It ain't that special. Every now and then an SRT or an off-road prepped JK might be worth a second look but really even the nicer looking ones are a dime a dozen. On every street. Owned by someone in every walk of life. People who don't congregate and don't park next to other Jeeps on purpose.

Here's parking at last week's Subaru meeting: 3 Jeeps, a 4th one is out of the picture. I intentionally parked my GC behind the other Jeep because there was an empty spot and I could see it from the window. I guess that makes at least the 3 of us (GC, Liberty and Patriot) all a happy crowd of Jeepers seeking validation.

According to this article, in Chicago, Jeep Grand Cherokee is the 6th most popular car, more popular than the Honda Accord (7th place) and the Wrangler (8th place) and the Honda Civic (9th). And according to this 2012 article, parking Grand Cherokees next to other Grand Cherokees was pretty high up on the list of priorities of wealthy people.

Well maybe next time instead of trying to figure out where it live you could just glance up at where I'm located. Would have saved yourself the bashing.

Just because its like that where you are dosent mean it carries over to where I'm at. Army posts are a different animal when it comes to demographics

Re: Jeep attraction

He wasn't bashing but only pointing out in most cases Grand Cherokee's parking next to other Jeeps is unintentional. I thought that would be a given and really didn't see in argument in it but I guess something can always be made out of nothing.

If you think someone is parking next to on purpose that's great. So be it.

Re: Jeep attraction

HELL ya, I'll park next to another Jeep! Why not? If he/she has it nicely modded up, I'm even more inclined to chat with them! As mentioned earlier, there are so few Jeeps around me, it's a bonus to be able to park next to one!

I'm with ya. I INTENTIONALLY parked behind this Jeep so I wouldn't have to worry about my vehicle while I was eating Sushi

I think between the two of us we have NY and CA covered

Jeep attraction

This phenomena isn't relegated to certain locations. It's decided by the person. How could location reduce the fraternal feeling some owners experience? It can't. Think before typing please.

A decent percentage of us JGC owners will go out of our way to park next to another jeep. Then there's another group of owners that doesn't think about that kind of stuff at all.

Then there is the group that will purposefully park near other JGC's if it's convenient.

What one group does has zero affect on the other group.

The bottom line when it comes to parking habits is this-some will, some won't. There is no definitive answer. Anyone who thinks there is, well....just stop it.
