The Jeep is a great value based on features and price. Add in reasonably priced service and good reliability and you get a top spot!

How does Land Rover come in a DISTANT last in cost and reliability and still have a business?

Land Rover sells to a completely different market. Most of the owners probably pay cash for the vehicles and don't really care what they cost, just as long as they are extremely capable. Watch a few Youtube videos on guys comparing a $100,000+ Land Rover to a $40,000 Jeep and gushing on about the Rover when it handles better in some extreme condition.

That's always the asumtion but in reality very few people pay cash for cars. I see a lot of Range rovers in my subdivision and trust me they are not paying cash for them. They get them second hand and only a year or 2 old because most are leased.

I really like the look of the sport but I've known about the cost of ownership so I just can't bring myself to buy one.

Well that's true I'm sure' but I was taking about the folks who buy the higher priced models new. I have a friend who bought a Porsche turbo SUV last year and those go for $120 k new. His comment was that regular folks like us don't buy these new.

I think you missed my point....the people that "buy" the new ones don't actually buy them, most are leased. Thats why you can find so many 1-2 year old high end cars for sale. That's if they are smart.....those type of people don't keeps cars for very long and it would be a huge loss to trade it in after a year or 2.

But hey, it's not my money.

Depends on where you live. You'd be surprised on how many people pay cash in small rural areas. Too, if you get on the right cycle and you'll end up driving new cars for next to nothing.
