Re: Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee & Wrangler Altitude editions revealed

I have not seen a GC with the 8.4 screen that did not have a backup camera. The first time I saw this listed it read "more details to follow"... so maybe there are other options being considered.

If the 8.4" screen is already installed, the camera is like a 3 dollar option.

This is what I wanted my 2014 limited to look like. Color matched mirrors and handles, blacked out wheels and front. No QT2, no BU camera, still dislike that copper trim on the inside. Not so jealous anymore, but she sure is perty.

That would be about right, maybe a little sooner, production starts March 3rd.

Just looked, back-up camera is not listed at all for the Altitude models.

I find it unbelievable that they would not make such an important safety feature available on a $35k+ vehicle.

It's kind of odd that they aren't offering a few things for this Altitude. the my12 Altitude had more features. I've said it once, I'll say it again. I'm not understanding going backwards with this model instead of trudging forward like Jeep is wanting too.

I understand the "this is just an appearance package" but vehicles also need safety. As back up camera's and sensors have become an important safety feature, they should at least be optional.
My opinion of course lol

They don't want to be responsible for drivers forgetting to look over their shoulders when backing up ;-)

The way things are going I am losing confidence in JEEP (not the workers...I've never had confidence in them)

What is even weirder is that I believe the Government has put out a proposal that all cars are required to have reverse cameras within the next few years?

Maybe it never got passed, but I recall reading about that being a requirement in the future.

Re: Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee & Wrangler Altitude editions revealed

So perhaps the GC Altitude does actually come with backup camera and sensors as per this article dated 2/14/14:

Altitude Models Take Jeep® to New Heights | Chrysler Group 360

Frustrating there seems to be some mixed messages about this...

Re: Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee & Wrangler Altitude editions revealed

After reading the thread, the Grand Cherokee Altitudes are not going to start production until 3/1?

Also no V-8 option?

Also, no all leather seats? (i seen the perforated suede inserts seats on the model at the Chicago Auto show, i didnt like them)

I might just buy the Limited and spend the extra $$$ to do a blackout..

What is everyone else planning to do?
