Mongoose9400 is an unknown quantity at this point
How can you people takes the swedes test as fact when it couldn't be repeated. Any scientific test needs to be repeatable by others. We have one video clip of a Jeep on two wheels and people are going bat shit crazy over it.

Has there been any accounts of a WK2 rollover to date? No? Then the Jeep is safe until otherwise.

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee Passes "Moose Test" Performed by Germany's Auto Motor und Sp

I think what it boils down to is this: Chrysler stated that the vehicle weighed 2347kg, but it actually weighed 2505kg.
The amount of ballast put into the Jeep was based on 2347kg, but since it was actually heavier, the magazine had overloaded the vehicle (not their fault). When they said that the results could not be repeated later, that was probably on the knowledge that the Jeep was heavier than Chrysler originally stated.
So, instead of Chrysler saying “oh my bad” and “sorry we gave you the wrong weight, glad you weren’t hurt in the test”, they attacked Teknikflookens magazine.......All automakers are often very arrogant.
Remember Toyota?

After reading this thread I noticed my head started to spin. When I first watched the swede video of the JGC failing the moose test, I started to worry. Then I realized, hey I live in North Carolina, we don't have moose in North Carolina! I'm worry free!

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee Passes "Moose Test" Performed by Germany's Auto Motor and Spo

Thats some awesome data and testing procedures you have found there Savvas!

Just dont be disheartened when it wont be read or understood by those you are attempting to help.

If we based everything about the cars we drove on what MAGAZINES publish, no car would ever be safe, and the ones that are great would change with each advertisers pocketbook.

Said it once Enforcer, Ill say it again, if you are so keen on this car being a killer why havent you sold it and bought a territory? Typing on the computer wont change the Jeep in the driveway.

The testing information and procedure that Savvas has posted are comprehensive and repeatable, yet you choose to ignore it. I dont believe anything will change your mind, hence the above statement.

But, this is the internet, so 'the sky is falling' argument wins every time

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee Passes "Moose Test" Performed by Germany's Auto Motor and Spo

Val, NOWHERE have I said it is a killer. If YOU bothered to read over what I have said, it is simple even for you to understand. I want to know why Jeep have not provided any evidence to counter the magazine.
I feel very safe in my Jeep, but am worried that the ESP is not up to the level I would expect from this car. Seeing the consumer group testing video that shows a very similar result with an unloaded car makes me think that some cars may have this problem and require an update.
As for the info Savvas posted, is ver relevant, but DOES NOT HAVE THE CAR TESTED WITH ITS MAXIMUM WEIGHT. Simple enough for you ?

And by the way I sold my Territory Turbo to get the Jeep

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee Passes "Moose Test" Performed by Germany's Auto Motor and Spo

The German magazine did testing by a published third party protocol, and they repeated it 60 times. This protocol uses cones to set turning rates, ensuring consistency.

The Swedish magazine did their testing with their own protocol, and no one is able to reproduce the results. Instead of using cones, the driver simply turns the wheel as fast as he can.

Ok Enforcer, I have gone over everything you posted on this issue, and nothing anyone or any group can say will change your mind or stop your diatribe.

Please keep continuing to bleat your complaints everywhere until a MAGAZINE can verify your fears.

Im heading back to Simpletown.

Dear Enforcer,
If You dont feel safe just sell it.
Whatever tests and real life are completely different.
That kind of tests they can just give us a rough indication, are not the bible.
Trust me, if someone will agree to give me ANY kind of car (and agree to not complain after test), I can roll it just aftr 5 minutes test, no matter suv or sport or sedan.
My 2 cents....

When Microsoft comes up with their next update will you assume that their product is unsafe unless you install it?

Given time, you can find a way to roll anything if you're not using a standardized procedure. If I had a week to come up with a realistic and reasonable looking test to make a vehicle look terribly unsafe, it would be easy to do so. Especially if all you're doing is jerking the wheel like a crazy person.

Possibly, depends on the vulnerability identified.

Now, back to Jeep. In response to the Swede test Consumer Reports has stated:

"we wouldn't be surprised if Jeep would change the electronic stability control (ESC) calibrations on the Grand Cherokee going forward to improve their performance in this test " (source)

If Jeep responds, do you install the update?
