Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Hellcat...

When I heard this was a 10.9 car from the factory that got my attention. I would never buy one as I heavily favor exclusivity and aesthetics over all out performance. My 2000 Viper ACR is only 500hp with my exhaust setup and it's just stupid fast for me. Granted I have no amenities or nannies other than what I bring to the table and it's just a blast to drive. The main attraction for me is that you never see vipers around. I see corvettes and challengers all day. For a performance enthusiast, this car is just awesome though. There is A LOT to be said about 707hp WITH a factory warranty. As others have stated, I do NOT see this car going under about 70k out the door though. This is a very very expensive car and very niche. The Shelby GT500, while a great car, is still very similar to other mustangs on the road and people are paying about 60-65k for a car that has more performance than they likely can get out of it and also for the name.

a base of 61k is priced perfectly for this car because anything higher and we get into muddied territory. This WILL be a hit. Just not something I could afford to invest in.

edit: I am not sure what the 640hp Gen V Viper does in the 1/4 but don't think it's 10.xx without some sort of tire mod and outstanding driver (I could be wrong I just don't have the numbers). I would guess 11.2-11.3. I wouldn't think the really heavy and less aerodynamic Challenger would be beating the viper despite the 60ish HP advantage. What I am interested in is seeing how the Viper responds

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Hellcat...

I was reading this morning that Dodge might only build 1200 for 2015..they will sell out as soon as you can order them, if thats the case. I'm sure they'll be some available on ebay for 90k lol

11.49 and faster requires a cage most places. Lot's of factory cars technically require a cage on the drag strip already.

A rule that has always annoyed me.

Dude, that engine has like 400 lb-ft of torque at 1500 rpm. That's the good thing about a positive displacement blower, torque is instant and stays flat basically across the rev range.

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Hellcat...

Bottom line-it's a BEAST. My guess is it would beat the factory fast car of your choice. By a lot.

JGC was the exception relative to the SRT designation/build...everything else would essentially become a separate "SRT brand", but the JGC SRT would stick around. It's been pretty successful. At least that's what various articles I read said...at the time. Things can change, however.

400 lb-ft torque at 1500 RPM is only 114 HP. If the torque is flat, 400 lb-ft of torque at 1800 RPM is 137 HP. I said it would be awesome if it had 200 HP at 1800 RPM. That would require 584 lb-ft of torque.

BTW, the 3.0L V6 diesel has about 420 lb -ft of torque at 1800 RPM. More than the Hellcat engine?
