Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT To Stay, Chrysler 300 SRT To Bow Out: Report
With SRT recently confirmed to be losing its standalone brand status and becoming an in-house tuner of Dodge
, many are wondering what will happen to current SRT models sold by brands other than Dodge. We know the Viper supercar is returning to its Dodge roots, but what about the Chrysler 300 SRT and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT?
According to Car and Driver’s
sources at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the Chrysler 300 SRT will soon be axed but the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT will get to live on for the time being. The move makes sense as the 300 SRT competes with the Dodge Charger SRT whereas the Grand Cherokee SRT has no competition within FCA. Furthermore, the Jeep is said to be the most popular of the SRT-badged cars.
Note, Jeep’s Grand Cherokee is set to undergo a major update next year
, so we may see the SRT model rebranded something else. Stay tuned for an update…
