I agree. I like the Cherokee design.
If it had been out when I was shopping for a new car, I probably would have ended up with one. You get a smaller SUV with a v6 engine and similar towing capacity as the Grand Cherokee v6, without the tow package upgrade (i.e. enough to tow my boat).
I have the sense, right or wrong, that the Jeep division is self-contained. After all, they are one of the few groups in Chrysler that have been consistently selling cars.
As for FIAT, I wouldn't think that they would be willing to sell off divisions just yet. They just got to the point where they can start leveraging Chrysler and the distribution channel.
