Jeep over a Range Rover...

Cool article on Yahoo comparing the Jeep as a cheaper alternative to a Range Rover.

Re: Jeep over a Range Rover...

but i think in reliability JEEP wins, but not by much. LR and pretty much British brands are always cursed by problems.

Re: Jeep over a Range Rover...

We considered the Range Rover and LR4, but not for long. Price be damned, we preferred the Overland. Still do, and where do you get service for RR/LR in the hinterland of Middle America?

Would love to see the Summit upgraded to something between the Overland and the SRT8. Say, with Overland offroad capability and SRT braking, for starters.

Call it the SortaRT8.

Re: Jeep over a Range Rover...

I love the way the Range Rover looks and the interior materials. But like the article says, the reliability of them has been atrocious. This has been going on for years and they still haven't fixed it? How can you build a rugged, solid high-quality SUV and breaks down frequently?

The Jeep GC defnitely has it here. I hope the minor annoyances and problems have improved form the start of the new model year and continue improving!

Re: Jeep over a Range Rover...

The Range Rover dealer down the street went out of business. Lol.

Maybe because the Jeep dealer was down the street. Who knows.

Re: Jeep over a Range Rover...

my parents ordered a '10 RR sport supercharged in late '09... they waited 4 months for it and got the first one in the state of Colorado... It was BEAUTIFUL ebony and ivory interior every option known to man... Paid 85k out the door... fast forward 3 months the supercharger goes out... another month the brakes need repaired... another 3 months the entire car needs to be rewired because of electrical bugs... 7 months and traded in back to an Avalanche which she is completely happy with...

Re: Jeep over a Range Rover...

Speaking first hand here...own/owned first year production models of both at hand. Keep in mind the REAL Range- not the Explorer based Sport or LR4 (look it up if you want) was penned by BMW and for the first three production years, powered by BMW as well. As a result, it was an incredible driving package. Ample power, control and a driving position/visibility second to none. Off road/poor weather performance was amazing as well. And then open the door and check out the interior....where do(did) I sign?
Ironically, I traded it in the exact day the factory warranty expired on the MB listed below, because without the warranty....forget it! I had a to fire my dealer in town, resulting in a 50 mile round trip every time something broke. (I sure showed them!).
Back to the topic at hand..the Summit is very nice. The hemi has reasonable power and is pretty smooth for a pushrod.
The interior fit and finish is very good and really believe it is an incredible value for the $43 and change transaction price.
I have honestly gotten to the point that if a dealer service department does not know me by name, I truly believe we a both better off.

Re: Jeep over a Range Rover...

I like how they said you get a base Jeep Grand Cherokee and an SRT-8 for the price of just one Supercharged Range Rover Sport...Now that is something to laugh at!!! lol
