Jeep produces lots of heat

Anyone notice it feels like a lot of heat coming off your jeep. I was standing outside mine with it running and seemed like a lot of heat comiong off of it. Cooling temp was normal 206 deg. I think it must be from the cooling fan running and blowing all that heat out. Just something I noticed.

Re: Jeep produces lots of heat

My other V-6s stay in the 180-190 range, computers are all in and everything under the hood lasts a lot longer. If the heap has a 195F thermostat there is no reason for it to run over 200F (or for the IAT to run over 100F & that is usually in the 120s.)

Re: Jeep produces lots of heat

I thought just the opposite. Now my previous 2010 M3, that thing put off a lot of heat after parking it in the garage. My WK2 feels like it gives off half the heat of the M3.

Re: Jeep produces lots of heat

OK please explain how starting further down the PV curve and reducing the likelihood of detonation causes lost HP. Every car I have had run on spec instead of 10-15F above it has run better.

True, I live in a hot climate so every bit counts but if nothing else the a/c will cycle more often.

Re: Jeep produces lots of heat

I think he meant that's what heat is: lost HP. An internal combustion engine is only 30-35% efficient so there is a lot of heat given off. Sit there and idle and the system is 0% efficient which means that all of the gas burned ends up as heat, either in the engine, exhaust, or transmission.

Figure out a way to convert all that heat to motive power and you'll be a zillionaire.

Re: Jeep produces lots of heat

I've noticed that my garage is blisteringly hot after I have it parked in there.

Should be nice in winter.
