Hi Everyone,

Interesting article. The new Cherokee is off to great sales numbers...

Chrysler November 2013 Sales Up 16 Percent, Bolstered by Jeep Cherokee - Rumor Central

November was a solid month for Chrysler Group, which posted a 16 percent sales increase from last year with 142,275 vehicles sold. It was the best November sales since 2007, with every brand except Fiat showing improvement. Year-to-date sales clock in at 1,639,361, representing a 9 percent increase year-over-year. As a brand, Jeep recorded the highest improvement compared to last year, and posted its best November ever with improvement from every model in its lineup — sales increased 30 percent up to a group-leading 45,415 units.

Winner: Jeep Cherokee, 10,169 Units Sold

In its first full month of sales, the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee showed a lot of promise. With 10,169 vehicles sold, it fell just short of the Jeep Wrangler’s 11,753, but Jeep Cherokee sales helped return the brand to positive year-to-date performance, posting a 1 percent increase with 437,179 vehicles sold compared to last month’s sales which were as of then down 2 percent. Jeep sold 36,379 vehicles in October, and a much improved 45,415 in November. The sales leader for Jeep remains the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which sold 14,798 vehicles.

I think jeep has 3 models with the Cherokee, GC and Wrangler that are really a force in the auto world. If they can get the GW out there and take the larger SUV sales from the competitors....Jeep may dominate SUV sales in the years to come.

I agree with you guys. Jeep is an American icon, not an Italian one. The Italians just do not get it, as you can see with the Cherokee. It is a very nice CAR, but it does not qualify as a Jeep, in my opinion. I would not have had as big of a problem with it if they did not use the Cherokee nameplate. I am now hearing reports that the next-gen Wrangler will have independent suspension. Taking away its solid axles will kill a big part of Jeep heritage.

For the record, I would still buy a Cherokee over any other crossover in its class, but I would buy a GC or Wrangler way before it.
