Wow $5400 is great! What part of the country do you live in? Also a very good point about the comparison, I haven't thought of it like that before.

Exactly why I did a two year lease on my 2012

Re: JGC 2012 or 2013

There is always something better around the corner isn't there? If you find a MY12 that fits your needs get it now, not Sept. Enjoy 2+ months of summer in it. Unless you are down under in which case you would be enjoying 2+ months of winter in it!

Thanks for all the replies. You guys are great! I talked it over with the wife and we are going to make do with the Subaru for now and order a 2014 from the factory in December. Hopefully in December there won't be something new and better on the horizon!

I think that's a good plan. Also, the GC will have been in production for 2.5 years and most bugs (as with all new vehicles) should be sorted out.

I've been patiently waiting, myself.

Good luck.

If I were buying a new car, I would buy a newer-year model rather than the last of the previous-year model.
.
I agree 100%. If I were able to wait I would have liked 3 of the 4 Summit options on my Overland Summit. The only one I wouldn't have taken was the black interior. I like sitting in a baseball glove. All the other options were all things I put on my wish list early on in my ownership. The power-folding mirrors were the first thing I wanted and the parksense in the front and rear the second. The headlamp washer would have been nice in the snow or mud.

Except for 2014, Jeep is putting in the 8-spd and the "New: Powernet electrical architecture".

I have to wonder if there won't be some bugs that need to be worked out with those changes.

Not likely since supposedly these systems are already bring used in other Chrysler vehicles. As weird as it sounds thè flagship Grand Cherokee is always last for the changes and updates which I don't understand. By the time anything gets into the Grand Cherokee it's already old news in other Chrysler vehicles. There should be no problems.

Re: JGC 2012 or 2013

Just hope they put a good number of very small LED lights in the 2012 tail lights and they look good. The Dodge Tail Lights look really dumb and cheap.

Re: JGC 2012 or 2013

Another reason to hold off for 2013+: it doesn't look like the broken seat rail issue that EuroNCAP discovered has been fixed by Jeep yet in the 2012s. My guess (and hope -- fingers crossed) is it'll be fixed in the 2013s, but you never know.
