Re: JGC CRD vs. VW Touareg TDI

Yeah, the VW site is kinda messy.

It looks like you are opting to build a 2012 (225HP) and pop into a 2013 build out (240HP).

Torque appears to be the same from model year to model year though for VW.

Either way, the CRD is still a better engine.

Re: JGC CRD vs. VW Touareg TDI

If you need serious off-road chops, go GC (I can't wait to drive the diesel motor). For basic off-roading, ride-quality, fit-finish and resale, I'd go VW, personally. Plus, you won't see yourself everywhere, either.

On another note, let's get something clear: The GC has "nearly" caught up to offering luxury features and performance that the VW Touareg introduced over 10 YEARS ago.

For world-car fans, you already are aware of this. Many former Touareg owners are current GC owners because VWoA didn't bring 4XMotion nor the A/S to the US. Plus, the GC is a lot less expensive, too. And, it looks pretty fantastic.

Also, if you're going to show pictures of the SRT8 as a comparison, be sure to note that the interior is ripped right out of Audi/VW playbook. Carbon fibre inserts (Audi, 1991 S4 - 20 years ago) along with the use of Alcantara and a flat-bottomed wheel with its metal twin-spoked bottom. Heck, even the battery is under the front seat.

The GC is probably the best SUV that the US has to offer and is something to be proud of. Let's just remember how dramatically improved it is from just three years ago and tip the hat to LR, MB and VW for their obvious influences.

Ahh, Jeep Grand Wagoneer. What goes around...

Good luck!

Wow, that kind of stomped on the discussion...

I've been accused of being a Eurocar zealot amongst even my German friends; but, a Jeep has WASTA enough all on its own name. It is COMPETING despite what fauee posts over and over. I see them here in Europe and their owners are proud. I have a friend that coaches my son's soccer team (german), that designs part of Audi's and VW's interiors and even he recognizes the draw of a Jeep.

Get off the high horse and either seriously consider one on the merits or move on.

Just my opinion on the tone of your post, and if I've violated a rule for responding with my opinion -- I hope the administrators give me the benefit of the doubt.

Sorry I'm late.

ALL trim badges are on the right side of the tailgate.

I am NOT sure why that one, in the video, isn't.

Uhhh...they might be GC owners now because they got sick and tired of the T-rag always breaking and the clueless VW service departments constantly sidesteppin instead fixin!
Been down the VW road too. No thanks.

Ha! Now that's funny. You're probably right. They do require a different kind of tolerance and care. Especially the '03/04 Touaregs. Released too early.

Marchionne was wise to delay the GC so they could sort out major issues. Good move.

I took the liberty of fixing that second-to-last paragraph for you.
