Soooooo... when will the Jeeps be added?

Too many Jeeps to recall. FCA will delay admitting the Jeeps are involved until the numbers decrease through attrition.

Yep, that's why I don't expect to have anything fixed on mine because I'll probably have already moved on to a 16 before they do and/or the parts become available.

Go over to Allpar and do some reading. THe only units being "offered" the option of a buy back are the trucks. Over 60% have already been repaired.
The offer to buy back is only for any of the trucks not corrected as yet and the customer basically gets trade in value +10%. I really dont see too many folks opting for that. Also keep in mind, many have not even brought them in to have them fixed.

I have an 02 with a Recall for air bags. I have waited basically becasue it was a bogus false recall. They had 20 out of 1.5 million WJ's were the air bags went off. THey found 18 of the 20, had work done on the steering colums so it was likely the clock spring malfunctioned. Their original fix was to wire a capacitor on the circuit feeding the air bag module. I wasnt going to let them screw with my wiring so I ignored it.

Now they have decided to repalce the air bag module and I will bring it in for that.

Oh, the 120 million $ fine will include the cost of any of the buy back trucks, which will be repaired and resold.

Chryslers issue on these recalls are, 1) getting parts and 2) getting people to bring them in to have fixed. I beleive they are now offering a 100$ bribe to get people to bring the trucks in to have them fixed.

Oh, lastly, unlike GM and Honda and Toyota on their ingition,, airbag and runaway cars, no one has been killed in any of the recent recalls on the trucks.

THe only ones anyone has been killed on is the old 93-98 Grands on the rear bumpers, which met all standards at the time and they had lower incidence of equivalnet SUVs at the time for fire related deaths.

I don't need to go to Allpar to read anything. Yes, I realize that the buyback is over defective steering components that owners have not had repaired, not the side curtain airbags as the article I pulled the info from tries to claim. And the fine is because of being slow to notify, getting replacement parts out and getting vehicles fixed.

I don't have the time or energy to factually correct an article that was written based on sensationalism rather than facts. That would be a full time job, and one I don't get paid for. I figured that astute readers out here can read between the lines themselves.

I was going to say the exact same thing. I have had my 2015 V6 Summit for about a week and a half, and I'm amazed at how much power this thing has how it moves this rig around. I finally gave Sport mode a try and WOW! Talk about some serious pep off the line. I had my wife try it and she was surprised as well.

I would say weight is the issue not the engines, but I wouldn't want them to drop very much weight because I like how solid the Jeep feels which translates to a safer vehicle.

Re: JGC redesign moved possibly to 2019

Agree, 3.6 is not underpowered even pulling my 3500 lb trave trailer, and I have a '12.

Now if they added Direct Injection so they could also add boost and keep 87 PON, I might consider a new one.

Problem with the Ford EcoBoost is that the 2.7 goes into power enrichment too easily and that really affects MPG. Personally think the geometry of the Pentastar 3.6 is near ideal for a gas engine. (would take a few hours and references to Sir Harry to explain why).

Pretty much takes a fanatic to tell my '12 from a newer one. Kinda like a Zippo.

ps true, my GC weighs about 800 lbs less than others which helps.

I'm happy with the power from my 2015 3.6L gas engine. (Though I haven't towed with it.). And this is without putting it into Sport mode.

Local driving I get 18-19 mpg.

Highway I get 20-22, mostly 21.

Wish it did a little better on the highway mpg's, but it lives up to the sticker, so can't complain.

For a vehicle this heavy, 18-19 around town is pretty impressive IMHO.

Im surprised your highway is that low. Ive been average 23-24mpg on the highway. One trip I was average 26-28mpg! Im sure I had a tailwind or some other contributing factor but on average I hover around 24 highway

I too have been getting 23-24 on highways consistently with stock Michelins and 18's.
