Dash cam is an interesting idea. Bet insurance companies hate those.

Sounds like a sweet ride, it's very similar to mine.

"Your" company might actually like it if you get involved in something where the "other party" swerved into your lane, causing you to hit them from behind. It might help with the argument for your side since normally the person in the back is considered at fault.

Folks in Russia pretty much use these dash-cams "standard" now because it's the only way they have to defend themselves against other drivers sometimes...

Northland, how do you like the Blackvue? I have been considering getting one for the last couple of months. How is the picture quality, can you read license plates? Is the nighttime recording decent?

Re: Just Bought a 14 Summit, what are the must have accessories?

I really like it - nice clear HD picture; GPS-enabled; low profile; wide viewing angle; even has a wifi chip in it so you can connect to your wifi-enabled phone and see the picture live, or play back recorded videos without removing the microSD card. With all the incompetent drivers out there, I consider a dashcam as necessary as insurance coverage these days. I suggest you visit this site: DashCamTalk Forum • View forum - Dash Cam Discussion. Tons of good info and reviews on most dashcams out there, and a dedicated forum for the Blackvue cams. Also, do a search on Blackvue DR500GW-HD on youtube; there's many videos of footage taken with this cam during day and night time.

Re: Just Bought a 14 Summit, what are the must have accessories?

Living in the NW we certainly need the slush (muddy rain) mats. Cargo mat will be nice with the dog since getting the hair out of the carpet is an all day event.
Anybody have suggestions for a brake controller (brand and location of where to put it?)

Nice! DashCamTalk is the site I follow and is the best Dashcam site around IMHO! i have been leaning to your unit because of the WiFi feature, I just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have watched a few of the YouTube vids and they looked good, even with the downgrading that YouTube does. Thanks!

Re: Just Bought a 14 Summit, what are the must have accessories?

I think you'd like this Blackvue unit - I had one of their earlier models for a year and a half; this one's much better and shows me they're striving to constantly improve this cam. Hit me up for install tips if you do purchase one.

My apologies to the OP - I'll quit now!

Can you post a picture of your setup? Which blackvue cam do you own? I'm thinking of getting one too.

Re: Just Bought a 14 Summit, what are the must have accessories?

Seems like there's a lot of interest in dashcams - I'll post a how-to thread with pics in the next few days in the appropriate forum.

***My dashcam install how-to is now posted at: Blackvue DR500GW-HD DashCam Install
