Haha it's true. Recently I was cleaning the interior of my wife's Odyssey and I had the second row completely out (which btw is simple to do), and the third row folds away flat. The damn thing was darn near the size of a Ford Econoline cargo van lol.
What we like the most about the van besides all the obvious, is how they design them at the perfect height. Getting in and out is so easy. Not like a car that's too low, or like an SUV that requires a step up. The power sliding doors are obviously incredibly helpful especially when in tight spots. Nothing is more annoying than trying to load my daughter in my Jeep when I can't open the door all the way.
It's certainly interesting hearing everyone's opinion on all SUV and minivans

There are other vehicles that are just as capable to travel with when you have 3 children. While I do agree, 3 kids and a GC wouldn't make the best family car, you still couldn't push me into a van. Explorer Sport, XC90, Acadia Denali, Sorento SXL, Durango R/T, MDX - All that I'd consider before a van. And if price weren't an issue, then clearly a burb, Yukon XL, Escalade ESV.

Vans just don't appeal. No doubt they offer the best (except overall luxury and prestige), but people don't like them. The amount of crossovers and SUVs being moved by manufacturers proves that people don't want vans.

Exactly - 3 kids with a Durango RT when we need to cart them all around. Get a lot of compliments and a hemi kicks ass of course 👍ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1463783233.520977.jpg

Re: Just drove a 2017 Pacifica. Impressed!

Before I had 2 kids my parents gave me their old dodge grand caravan which had 100k and drove like new..and was actually kind of fun to drive. I no longer have it now but miss it. The new grand caravans and town and countrys are incredibly ugly especially the rear end imo. They look so boxy. I haven't seen the Pacifica's in person but they look pretty nice in the commercials. Even though I don't own one now and can't quite bring myself to yet I know a minivan is the most practical vehicle with kids.

Re: Just drove a 2017 Pacifica. Impressed!

I agree, the newer caravans are terrible looking. Up until the new Pacifica came out the newer Odysseys were my favorite as far as looks go....decent anyway, for a minivan.

Re: Just drove a 2017 Pacifica. Impressed!

When did the Pacifica become a minivan???????

Sorry, I will never own a minivan. One of the biggest positives, for a minivan, in the past was MPG. Now that I'm getting 20+ MPG in a GC, I really don't see the point in a minivan. I can understand if you have 3+ kids, but I have two so the GC is more then adequate.

New product that replaces the Town & Country/Caravan going forward. They decided to reuse that name for it since the former "Pacifica" wagon hasn't been sold for a number of years.

One could also ask, since when did the Charger become a 4-door? The answer would be the same.

Re: Just drove a 2017 Pacifica. Impressed!

My kids have Toyota Highlander and Sienna minivans. There's nothing better than a mv for hauling. I wouldn't own one but rent them when I need more cargo space than my HA offers. And, Chrysler's Sto and Go fold flat seats are the best. Also, led lighting, comfort, uConnect, etc and imho the Pacifica is a winner. I hope FCA does well with it. Now only if they would up the factory warranty to 4/60 like my Infiniti at the same price point as high end Grand Cherokees.

Re: Just drove a 2017 Pacifica. Impressed!

Worked for Chrysler for years and and we stamped all the minivan parts so we have had 3 dodge grand caravans they were awesome when kids were little. I always had jeeps and our 15 altitude is the wife's for jeep. I guess the one thing about minivans is they don't make smile when you drive them. My wife said this jeep is the first time she enjoyed driving her car in years because minivan just don't do that. Lol plus they are terrible in the snow. I think the made a mistake not making the Pacifica all wheel drive. But it is nice.

I see your point, but, have you ever tried to park a Suburban in a tight spot? Or, instead of sliding doors, have the kids slam the rear doors into the car next to you? Or, try to fit that Suburban into a tightish garage? Imo, while I don't drive one, minivans do make sense for many b

Yup I've done all of that. Like I said, I've owned one. But I haven't owned a van. I like to look back and be happy when I see what I drive. Vans don't do that for people. Nor can they tow a boat...

Re: Just drove a 2017 Pacifica. Impressed!

Factory tow package is an option on the Pacifica, and I noticed it's actually on a lot of the ones on dealer lots now. How much it can tow I don't know yet. As far as minivans in snow I think they are actually quite good.
Forgot to mention the Pacifica has awesome camera options. Has front, rear, and overhead views.
