We also drive to the NJ shore every couple weeks or so in the summer (2 hr dr).

Both my wife and I said years ago we would NEVER get a minivan (just like the guy in the insurance commercial), but when we had our third child that all changed. And thank goodness it did. The MV has made life sooo much easier. Now, since our youngest is 5 when I am ready to trade the van in in another 3 years or so, we will most certainly be looking back at an SUV.
I get it. I went camping last year with just 1 kid and the GC was packed pretty solid. If I had more kids....especially little kids I wouldn't hesitate to drive an MV. I spent a weekend once getting babies and toddlers in and out of a Ford Excursion and it was not pretty trying to lift them that high. The flat floor and sliding doors of a van make a lot of sense when you look it at that way.

Duck is awesome btw, used to go to OBX every year.

Seriously, the new minivans tend to handle much better than a crossover or traditional suv. I see them used about as much for moving a bunch of grownups around in comfort as kiddie haulers.

Re: Just drove a 2017 Pacifica. Impressed!

I have soon to be three year old twins. We got the jeep and quickly ran out of room after they were born. We then got a Town and Country. The jeep is much more pleasurable to drive, nice minivan does everything family oriented better. I even loaded it with 15 sheets of 1/2" Sheetrock no problem. With the boys being a little older, we don't need the van as much. We are now looking at downsizing to one car. The choice is between a loaded Pacifica or the Overland. The brown leather in the Pacifica is really nice. I haven't drove it yet, but just sitting in it is tempting enough. The sliding doors with remote start is huge with kids. Especially now that they made it foot activated as well.

Go sit in a new Pacifica Limited with the Mocha interior. You'll really like it. I'm sure the Jeep is more pleasurable to drive, but being inside that Pacifica was for sure a nicer cabin than my 2015 High Altitude.

Re: Just drove a 2017 Pacifica. Impressed!

Funny to see this thread. I've tried convincing my wife to trade in the GC for a Pacifica and she refuses. She loathes minivans and would never own one. I even teased and said I would buy one for me and she still doesn't agree. She would rather me buy a Challenger than a Pacifica. I'm waiting for our local dealer to get some in so we can check them out, but from the pictures it's a very attractive vehicle. Our kids fit the GC, but we have no extra space when their cousins want to tag along and even shopping can max out what space we have in the cargo area. I feel when it's time to upgrade from the GC, we'll end up with a Durango or Yukon/Burban.

What this world needs is a Hellcat Pacifica with suspension and wheels to match.

Give the little rugrats whiplash and smoke a few Corvettes and maybe people would stop dissing minivans.

Your wife's loss. Only if she knew what she was missing Considering they are better driving vehicles than a Grand Cherokee, is it really just an image thing? Are people really that worried about what others think about what they drive? Seeing a woman in a minivan to me is normal, what annoys me is seeing some little mom in a stupid Yukon or Suburban...you know the long ones that barely fit in most people's garages haha. I don't think someone could pay my wife to give up her new Odyssey!

I did. That's what made it so tempting. The front seats were really comfy. The seating position wasn't as upright at the T&C either. I really want to drive it now that it has the independent rear suspension. I'm going to end up coming back home with either the Pacifica limited or the Overland. My only concern with the overland is that I have heard a few complaints about the air suspension to be busy and rocks back and forth some. Has anyone done a direct comparison of air vs springs. I currently have. '14 Limited.
