Re: Just got 2014 JGC Overland...

looks amazing! I think there will be a lot of white Overlands on the road over the next couple of year!

Re: Just got 2014 JGC Overland...

Great looking vehicle and a nice writeup on how you like & dislike it so far.

I saw someone mention the tan carpet in another thread and realized how much that would SUCK. So, since I do want a Tan interior (like my 2012 Overland has), I'll have to buy some Weathertech mats or something.

I'm also surprised the 8-speed transmission still has to "hunt" for the right gear. I thought is was supposed to fix that particular issue.

It's hunting because its learning his driving style. Almost all modern transmissions do this.

wow. if that's the case i am going to "leave baby in the corner" and start driving like a jackass everywhere. ha.

tan carpet is pissing me off already. had sloppy weather and of course jeep doesn't have the 2014 rubber mats out yet so i got snow slop on my tan carpet because the 2011 mats for the driver side at least don't fit.

(if i am wrong someone please gimme the link for the new mats! i am not a fan of weathertech floor liners although that might be exactly what i need....)

Nice vehicle. I wouldn't necessarily say the trans is searching for the right gear. Most of these high gear count transmissions need to "step" through the gears to get to the one they know they should be in. They cant always make a straight shot. The busy nature can be a downside, but you learn to accept it.

Since my Summit at time of my delivery today had 35 miles on it, (I'm still steaming about that even though it came off the truck at 8am) they threw in a set of the Mopar Slush Mats. I checked with the parts guy, who contacted Mopar parts about the 13 mats fitting the 14 and Mopar said they are the same. Guess I'll find out when they arrive.

This is my biggest fear. How did they explain that? Hopefully they didn't let customers test drive and mess around with your ordered vehicle.

This is not uncommon at all and I wouldn't be the least bit upset. All those miles were likely put on at the plant.

At the factory the car drives on a rolling platform for wheel alignment, then possibly onto a rolling dyno to check engine performance, then is driven to the final inspection and shipping protection section, then is driven to the holding area away from the factory, then is driven onto the train, then is driven off the train at shipyard, then driven onto the boat, then off the boat, then onto a truck, then off the truck at your dealer.

A lot of variables to consider.

And it mentions that in the owners manual or user's guide. I think it said it takes around 1000 miles.

Wait....you mean to tell me the owners manual provides valuable information??

This whole time, I only though useful information could be found on the internet

Even with that, I think 35 miles is excessive. The past 2 Chrysler vehicles I've purchased new both had less than 10 miles on them and I bought those off the lot where they had the potential to be test driven and shuffled around the lot.

Re: Just got 2014 JGC Overland...

Beautiful car! Can't wait for mine to get here. On a side note I have ordered several new cars in my life most of them came with about 30-40 miles on the clock.
