Just ordered a LTD. Now I'm worried...

I have always thought that JGCs were pretty reliable and well made. After a few minutes snooping around here, I'm pretty worried now.

Anyone wanna talk me off the ledge? Should I have a checklist of things I should be looking for at delivery? A specific build date to avoid?

Thanks a lot, gang. Appreciate any advice.

(I was super psyched until about an hour ago.)

What year are you talking about? You have to remember that a lot of the people who had issues were some of the first ones built.. I have a 2013 and have had no issues but mine was built at the end of the 11-13 era.. No worries Mon!

Actually, no. I did the deal and they did a dealer swap. So it'll be there tomorrow, I think.

Re: Just ordered a LTD. Now I'm worried...

Personally if you are buying new I would go with late build. Anything that is build past September of last year will be solid.

If you go the route of an early build make sure that they flash the Jeep with the new software and upgrade your radio to the latest as well. Most of the issues that you are hearing about (shifting issues, radio issues) are all related to software. Mechanically I thin I have no issues with mine and it is a fairly early build - April 2013.

Re: Just ordered a LTD. Now I'm worried...

Don't worry about your new GC. Most of us here have good luck with ours and have had no problems to speak of. Just look it over good at delivery and make sure you get all the factory parts (floor mats, cables, manual, etc). Maybe someone here can give you a list of things that should come with a '14. Mine is an '11. I've had three years of trouble free service after a few tweaks at the very first.

Re: Just ordered a LTD. Now I'm worried...

Thanks guys.

I'm a little on edge about this. We've had Pilots for the last several years and they're really been pretty trouble free. Our family is a lot smaller than it was last year so I wanted to grab a jeep - always wanted one.

My wife was a hard sell. And now I'm seeing all these problems and that's when I started to question. She actually made me promise that there wouldn't be any problems (loosening my collar).

At the same time, I'm totally pumped for a Jeep and hoping for the best.

BTW, reading the Edmunds reviews is NOT the place to go for positive reinforcement. WTF?!

Edmunds is good for seeing invoice and MSRP. I wouldn't really use them besides that. My neighbor is like your wife. It took forever for me to convince him to get rid of his Camry and get something American. He now drives a Buick Verano. It's not a Mopar but at least it's American. So far he said that Buick is the best car he has ever owned.
