Re: Just returned from an 800 mile round trip to southern WV in my new 2014 Overland.

Yeah I personally don't care for the way a hybrid vehicle feels. My wife loved her Prius, but before I got the GS I looked at the Lexus ES hybrid and I looked at the Lexus GS hybrid, I don't like the CVT, I don't like the coarse drivetrain...just not for me. I'll pay more in fuel to drive what is IMHO a much better driving vehicle with a standard gas engine.

Re: Just returned from an 800 mile round trip to southern WV in my new 2014 Overland.

My wife loves the Prius too. I did for a while, until I got stuck because of the DAMN traction control. We have to carry around a set of chains to make sure we don't get stuck in winter. Though you can get those things stuck on a perfectly nice day, gravel road, steep hill under the right circumstances. THAT happened to me once too.

I do love the gas mileage though...and the keyless entry is a little less finicky and more refined than that of the JGC, but otherwise? GIVE ME MY JEEP!!

You realize that a Prius has a larger carbon foot print than a diesel locomotive don't you? And if it wasn't for government subsidies they would cost more than a SRT?

Loved the Prius outside of the poor rear visibility and the horrible winter traction. My Highlander Hybrid Limited was uncanny good...comfortable and economical. But it couldn't tow a small horse trailer safely. Hence...the Hemi Summit.

Theres a whole lot of untrue in this statement...but since I don't like the Prius anyways I won't argue LOL

Oh man, absolutely experienced the same thing. The traction control won't allow ANY wheelspin. Which means if you are ever in low traction, you aren't going anywhere.

Is there anything true in the above statement? HELL NO!!! I can't believe these complete fallacies continue.

First, let's start with an easy one - subsidies. The Prius is subsidized by exactly no one. You must have it confused with the Chevy Volt. More than an SRT? Do you even hear yourself? Complete BS, pure and simple.

Larger carbon footprint blah blah blah. First, again complete BS. But let's say it were true, just for the sake of argument. Think I care? Sorry, I'm not your stereotypical tree hugging Prius owner. I bought the Prius for exactly ONE reason - to save ME money. Wanna compare the price of a Prius to go 80,000 miles vs ANY other car? Yeah, Prius wins and that's how many miles we've driven it so far. We plan on keeping it to about double that. You can talk carbon footprint or subsidies or whatever other crap you want to spew all day long and my wallet is still thicker because of it.

The Prius is far from the perfect vehicle, but don't try to argue carbon footprints as a weakness. Ain't happening.

Sorry to be so harsh, but I'm afraid there's no other way to put it. Now back to our regularly scheduled Jeep info...

Ok include the carbon footprint to build it and the exotic metals including the battery! And it still looks like $hit!

No it will not! You can completely FLOOR it and it won't even TRY to spin. I have posts all over PriusChat complaining about it. It's actually not a bad car in terms of corners, stopping, etc on snow, but low speed, low traction situations? Gotta be close to the worst car ever. Snow tires help, but not enough.

Ok really. Back to Jeep talk! my blood pressure is rising!!

Anyway...back to Jeep stuff...I've noticed a creaking coming from the front passenger seat as well when there is someone sitting in it.

I AM taking that into account. Seriously dude, just stop. This is an argument you cannot win. See HERE for one of many studies disproving this very stale MYTH.

"Although hybrid vehicle production is more energy-intensive and results in higher production emissions, hybrid vehicles are still the greener choice overall."

Find another way to justify your gas guzzler. IMHO there are MANY legitimate reasons, INCLUDING "I just wanted one". But don't try to argue that your "carbon footprint" is better than a Prius. Again, ain't happenin'. You think they're ugly? Well, opinions are like...well, you know...everybody has one. No one's making you buy one! Just stop perpetuating these myths.

Sorry guys, I had to go there...I tried not to! TX_Driver tried to right the ship!

Reminds me of this cartoon someone once posted about me. I won't say WHERE exactly, but I will say it was in a thread now (sadly and indirectly) related to this one. A Google or two would probably find it.

Rofl - ok you're right I just hate them as a matter of personal taste! My gas guzzler runs between 19 and 20 mpg in metro/suburban traffic. Not too bad for a 5k lb vehicle IMHO! Since it replaced a 2001 GClimited w/v8 that leaked 12 mpg never mind what it burned, I feel I'm doing my part for global warming.
