Re: key fob battery

The 11-13's are a 2032.

I know this because I buy so many of them. Just replaced a few weeks ago and already had a key battery low message. I'm buying plain old duracells. Wonder if I should buy a higher quality one...

Keep a few in stock around the house. You can buy them for about $1 ea from Amazon or ebay.

Re: key fob battery

Yes, CR2032...and the multi-packs are inexpensive. These fobs are "active" all the time so they do use up the battery a lot faster than the old, more passive fobs of the past. Nature of the beast.

Re: key fob battery

I purchased two new battery's. (CR2032) When I took the old one out and tested it ( GC 11 months old) It read 3.0 volts. It says in the manual the fob battery should last 3 years.

Buy the RatShack ones.
Panasonic/Matsushita ones seem to last forever in storage.

Re: key fob battery

Good info to know. I recently purchased this exact battery a few months ago for my acoustic guitar tuner. Still have a couple sitting around the house.

Why are these fobs active all the time?

Re: key fob battery

These batteries are widely used now so you should keep some around the house and one in the vehicle's glove box. In our house they power the bathroom scale and the back up on my clock radio.

So we won't sprain our thumbs hitting the unlock/lock button or looking for the keyhole in the dark. Technology run amuck.

Re: key fob battery

^^ LOL. True though.

Mine started to give the "Keyfog batter low" messages occasionally. I replaced it last night after 2.5 years using the original battery. I replaced last night with "Duracell" brand battery. Let's see how long this would last.

On my previous Jeep, the battery lasted 10 years.

Cheers,
-A
