Key for Key?

So, jeep just called me and wanted to know if I would be interested in swapping out my 2013 for a 2014/15. Of course me being me, I said, "Sure, for absolutely nothing I would consider it". So, she stopped for a second and said, "if it is possible to do a "key for key" would you be interested"?

So, here is my question, what sort of questions should I ask if she calls me back and says you can swap out? Sure, I get a new car, but what sort of things should I ask/look out for?

This could all be a exercise of futility, but curious none the less.

Will circle back to you guys once she calls me back.

Re: Key for Key?

Loan Term and rate. If you are on a standard 60 mo. they might extend to a 72 or even an 84 mo. They like to extend the term to keep payments down or the same. Also the difference between what they give as trade and price of new will be taxed plus doc fees. Of course you start over with payments but if it can really happen with the same term and you're ok with it then go for it.

Re: Key for Key?

I was just pointing that out. I had already assumed yours was purchased.

Gotcha. Just wondering if it is even worth it.. I mean, there has to be some sort of fine print with something like this.

Re: Key for Key?

You might be surprised at what they offer. Worst case, you can always laugh at them and say, HELL NO!

Lol.. You're most likely right. I mean a new car for nothing? I put in terms of that to them knowing full well they would either tell me to gtfo or want me to pay some bullshit.. I mean, I would seriously contemplate it for 1k but other than that.. Buh bye.

I'm happy with my girl.

Re: Key for Key?

Was the call from Jeep, or your Jeep dealer?

Get the offer in writing, and see what options they are proposing on the new one.
WTH, you might find yourself with a new Jeep to complain about...

It may be a legit offer, but somehow they are either one of those "non-profit" dealers or there is something in it for them.

Maybe your existing Jeep is more reliable, and they need a few older ones to sell to folks scared of the '14/15?
... just sayin...
