Keyless Ignition Dangers

I'm guilty of almost waking away without turning off engine. Why Jeep never programmed the horn to honk a few times is beyond me. Should be standard on every make and model that has PTS

Re: Keyless Ignition Dangers

I may not honk, which would be a good idea, but the chime in the car goes off non-stop. The wife loved it when I left her in the car with it running due to the cold and went and got food and drinks that had to be made. She ended up getting out as it was driving her so nuts.

Yep, left sleeping kids and wife in the car with the aircon going, came back and had crying kids and unhappy wife.

Slow news day for Fox25?

People did this all the time even with keyed ignitions.

Morons will be morons no matter the level of technology that tries to keep them out of trouble....

Re: Keyless Ignition Dangers

Wait, it's the car manufacturers fault that you don't turn your car off before getting out? Or the electronic shifter's fault you didn't check to make sure the car was in park before getting out?

Read the f*cking manual and take responsibility for your actions. Don't use the vehicle without knowing how it works.

Wow, thank god that my parents' garage is all stuffed which have to park their vehicles outside... Yep, because dad forgot few times.

But, jeez I think all vehicles should have shut off itself mode within 30 mins-1 hour idle?

Why?
In a garage, unless the doors are open or exhaust fans are running, your next of kin would be the ones worrying about it.

I may WANT to leave my engine running [doors locked of course] longer than some engineer thinks is appropriate. IT IS A JEEP, please don't make them turn it into
Windows 10.

As for spousal wrath, smart males only take one instance before they hand the key to the missus or lay it on the driver's seat.

Re: Keyless Ignition Dangers

When the hell are people going to take responsibility for their own stupidity?

The vehicle may not honk the horn (which would be ultra annoying), but the interior chime goes off non-stop. I have had people shut off the car because I walked away and they were left in the car listing to DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING. I have also owned vehicles that have a few brief beeps (the pleasant piezo siren type used by Lexus, Toyota, Nissan, Infiniti, not the cheap horn) when you walk away.

Still, it is not the auto manufacturers' responsibility to anticipate every dumbass move that can be made. But lawyers will certainly ensure they place all responsibility on them rather than people that do stupid things to begin with. If someone leaves a vehicle with a keyless ignition running, they would do the same if it had a key because hitting a button with a finger is no different than turning an ignition switch.

All cars, including all the others that use a key, can be left running and create carbon monoxide poisoning. Why is this a new thing related to keyless ??
