Re: Keyless N Go Fob question

I get it. If anything fits in the slot and all it takes is the key fob to be present, then you can fabricate a homemade push-to-start button (except it will be a rotate to start button). Thus keeping the key in your pocket. Let me know it works and what you use for a button.

Re: Keyless N Go Fob question

Point....
the dealers have software to PROGRAM the fobiks.... if the fobik goes bad... it must be reprogrammed by dealer.

there are 'receivers' in the vehicle... check into the TSB's covering issues with the system...
the 'receivers' are in the doors and one in the threshold of the rear hatch opening.

my 2011 i purchased USED, would not communicate with some parts of the system... and the keyless touch and go would not function. (opened doors wiith remote keys presses and had to use the fobik in the dash to start) they installed a new component, but later found a chaffed wire at the rear of the vehicle...
now keyless touch and go works, push to start works.. 99.7% of the time... had a strange one today where "key has left vehicle' appeared after i started it...

strange, but tells me the fobik communcates with the vehicle 'receiver'....

there has to be 'something' in the fobik...

Re: Keyless N Go Fob question

Yes, I have no doubt that the fobik is programmed. I have had many keys for other vehicles that are "chip programed".
I do not have enter and go. That is clearly understood. But when I look at the fobik that is inserted and turned to start the vehicle, it appears to be identical to every other fobik. As soon as I can get my hands on one to try, I expect any fobik to turn the starter switch and start the vehicle. IF and only IF my assigned fobik is in close proximity. If this is so, any device that matches the shape of the fobik key end will start the car. So I would have to turn a start stop instead of pushing one.

LOL Im spending way too much time thinking about avoiding turning a key! I am the most lazy man in the world.

Re: Keyless N Go Fob question

No, I had had two keys like the jeep key. One for a Town and country minivan. If i inserted the jeep key in the van the screen would say wrong key. and if i inserted the van key in the jeep it would tell me the same. So no, not just any key will start the jeep.

The best information I have is that this will work because keyless entry and keyless ignition rely on an RFID chip within the fobik. The battery is used only when a button on the fobik is pressed. I tried to remove the battery from my fob but can't seem to figure it out, even with the instructions from the OM. Somebody please try this.

Re: Keyless N Go Fob question

Hi all,

So I have a "new to me" 2011 Laredo. I believe I have the E package. The build sheet says "Keyless Enter-N-Go".

However, I can't get passive entry to work. I do have the exterior lock button on the handles. I have to insert the fob and turn to start. Same thing as above, if I press in the hole with a finger or something, it says "Damaged Key" even with the fob in my hand. When I press in, I can hear a very faint sound.. I think it is the CD player motor spinning for a split second, but it could but something else behind the dash.

So, I don't know if I should have remote start or not. The button IS on my fob. And the EVIC says "Press Brake pedal and push button to start". Does everyone's say this even if you don't have push button start?

Re: Keyless N Go Fob question

Going by what I have read in this forum, all 2011 models had the Fobik. It was only the lowest entry model in 2012 where it was left off. That being the case, you should have push-button start and touch-entry. If not, is the vehicle still under warranty? Are all functions enabled in the EVIC?

Re: Keyless N Go Fob question

Passive Entry is enabled in EVIC. I don't any options there for push-button start.

Vehicle is under warranty, but I first need to convince the deal or prove my model should have push-button start. They're telling me I don't have it as a feature, and that "Tip Start" is not the same as "Push-button start".

Re: Keyless N Go Fob question

Can you get your hands on a push-button from another GC (2011/2012), install it (it just pops in), then take it to the dealer and just say "it's not working"? Let them figure it out.... I seem to recall another forum member finding a source of these buttons somewhere.
