Laredo Roof Rack - WTH?

I buy a new, pretty stripped down, Laredo two weeks ago. I say to the dealer, "throw in Mopar cross-bars for the rack system, and we've got a deal."
He says "fine" but the next day says that the Laredo can't accept the cross bars, but instead, has to have a different factory rail attached to the roof, first.
(they order it, and when they try to install it, find out it's the wrong one)

I don't get it. The brochure I have for the 2013 says "Laredo standard equipment - Bright-Side Roof Rack".

But this vehicle has a very low profile, black side rail that obviously does not accept a crossbar. Is the brochure wrong? Or do I have a squirrely Jeep?

Re: Laredo Roof Rack - WTH?

I think the bright-side roof rack is standard for the Laredo "E" (a package which includes keyless enter and go and power driver's seat), while the low-profile black side rail is standard on the base, non-E Laredo.

I seem to remember reading somewhere on this forum maybe that cross bars can be added, but they need to do some minor "work" to the roof first so it can accept it. But don't quote me on that.
