Re: Laredo, X, Limited, Overland, Summit, or SRT8?

Another reason I'm curious about the different model problem reports is that I have a theory about what might be going on. Reading the forum I've seen numerous reports of electronic gremlins as well as many other issues with the 730 radio (my 430N just works). One of the major differences from my fully loaded X (one of the few Laredos with QD2 with QL) and the Overlands is the radio and all of the other neat electronic sensors. I suspect the CAN Bus on these trucks isn't dealing well with all of that sensor data ... or the radio (which is part of the network) isn't playing well with others on the network. I hoped to see more data on the different models to see if it supported my hunch or not.

Re: Laredo, X, Limited, Overland, Summit, or SRT8?

Just 730N memory loss issues, but only when wife and I constantly changing from driver 1/2. Zero problems when only one of us is using the vehicle. Otherwise, our Overland has been flawless. So far.

In a separate poll about 5% of 120 reported QL issues. So in a sample size or 26-26, you would expect one or two additional problems. Which is consistent with this poll which shows one more problem that Laredos in a similar sample size. Polls here seem to get much fewer reports than I would expect in a large forum. Maybe the forum family isn't all that big?

Although I have 730 issues and a headliner rattle I reported 0 issues as I haven't taken it in for warranty yet (I haven't seen that the 730 issues have been corrected yet although some seem to have a good radio).

Re: Laredo, X, Limited, Overland, Summit, or SRT8?

IMO the 730N issues are a valid problem, so I responded accordingly in the poll. Maybe the poll would be more useful if it separated minor issues from major problems.

Re: Laredo, X, Limited, Overland, Summit, or SRT8?

So it looks like there are more Overlands here than anything else, and that the folks reporting problems are about the same percentage-wise -- Laredos and Overlands as a group both running about 14-ish percent with reported problems. The sample size is smaller than I expected from the number of posts I see here, but I suppose there are a number of posters that join to get a question answered, and then don't come back until something else goes wrong. Thanks for replies.

I've driven both overland and Laredo, own the overland, rented the Laredo for 2 weeks. The mpg's on the Laredo v6 were pretty good compared to the hemi. Other than that I was far from impressed with the pentastar engine and the overall feel of the Laredo. Stay away from the base Laredo if you ask me. The overland feels sturdy, solid, grounded. The Laredo feels like it was nailed together.

Re: Laredo, X, Limited, Overland, Summit, or SRT8?

Picked up my 2011 Overland Hemi last week. It had 15 km (under 10 miles) on it, but noticed within an hour that the front sensor for the Adaptive Cruise/Front Collision Warning is loose and is constantly sending me a "clean sensor" message and FCW Off light. Soon after I noticed that the front passenger side map pocket and door handle ambient lights aren't lit.

I love Jeep, I am really impressed overall with the features on the GC in general and the Overland specifically, but not too impressed with the quality control.

Goes in on Monday, hopefully these are quick and easy fixes and are just one-offs and not a sign of things to come.

Re: Laredo, X, Limited, Overland, Summit, or SRT8?

So far so good with my 2011 Laredo X Hemi. I bought it in Nov. 2010. My problems are with what appears too be an extreme lack of aftermarket items. ??? I'd like to get some depo led tails ( still unavailable ) or some awesome black headlights ( like I had on my Daytona PU ) ??

Re: Laredo, X, Limited, Overland, Summit, or SRT8?

I have a 2011 Overland V6 4x4, just turned 10k miles. It's had 2 oil changes. That's it so far. I was very apprehensive at first. I had a 2008 Mercedes ML 350. But now that I've had it up to the mountains and back a few times I have to say it's the best vehicle Jeep has ever built without question. The amount of style, options, and quality for the money is by far the best value on the market right now. The only thing these GC's give up to BMW and MB, Lexus, is acceleration. Other than that, I've loved my WK2. The air suspension option on a 12 mile pot hole dirt road is the BEST!

Re: Laredo, X, Limited, Overland, Summit, or SRT8?

I've had no problem with my overland hemi.

I had an underinflated tire when I got it from the dealer (but not so underinflated, it just wasn't evened out with the rest of them 2.4 bar whilst the rest were at 2.6) That was fixed in less than a minute. The only other "problem" I can find is that the frost beige interior gets dirty easily.

A part from that, trouble free. And I don't really consider the above as problems. I consider them as little annoying things.

Re: Laredo, X, Limited, Overland, Summit, or SRT8?

If you consider the math at the current numbers (140 votes)

Overlands consist of almost 40% ownership, so it's understandable as to why it has the highest amount of problems reported in this thread.

To me the numbers look relatively similar considering ownership percentages (some higher than others but most are relatively the same.

These are the problems in ratio to the amount of owned vehicles:
Laredo-16% / LaredoX-14% / Limited-11% / Overland-20% / Overland Summit-11% / SRT8-20%
(IE: 12 laredos, 2 of them reported problems therefore 2/12 x 100, gives you roughly 16% and so on..)

Roughly the same. The sample space for srt8 is too small which is why we get 20% (1 problem out of 5 SRT8s). etc.

Considering the larger size of the overland sample we get a more accurate picture. I don't think it's right to comepare those with the Laredo or others. Maybe a bit of bias cause I own an overland but the numbers look pretty fair to me considering problems spread amongst the car owners.

Anyways, I think that because we're also not looking at other factors such as build dates, or export vs american, people's definition of problems and so on it becomes difficult to assess where the root of the problem is coming from.

Statistically speaking and ignoring all other factors, yes the overland has the most issues (but then again it would be tied with the SRT8, so just speaking stats wouldn't justify a reason enough to say that one is more reliable than the other).

I also like the sound of my own voice and the clicking of a calculator.

EDIT: Also, those who opt for overlands and summits tend to go for more and higher amount of options. Which means more room for issues to arise.
