Lease return questions

Hey guys have a few questions and looking for little guidance. I have a 2014 GC Limited 4X4 my lease is up end of Oct 2016 I have 12,100 miles left for the remaining 7 months. I'm currently looking into the 2017 GC Trailhawk when it arrives. My questions are. I leased from a leasing company in Brooklyn, NY who got the truck from Security Jeep in Long Island would I be able to return the vehicle to any Jeep dealer? This is my 1st lease so I am new to all this. Also would I be able to trade it in 1-2 months early if need be? Thanks in advance

Lease return questions

You can technically return to any jeep dealer, however they always claim that they don't have enough room to store it and don't want to deal with lease returns.
I would engage your broker in helping you out with the swap, a good broker will pick your car up and deliver a new one to you, just make sure all the paperwork and DMV documents are accurate, remember you are still responsible for the car until the plates come off, in other words your insurance will be used in case something happens, car brokers don't have their own insurance.

Re: Lease return questions

With my last Audi I had leased it in NJ and had returned it to a dealer in Honolulu. There will be an end of lease inspection but that's about it from what I remember. There wasn't any issue dropping it off at the dealer

Re: Lease return questions

Since you leased from an independent leading company, you need to ask them what their lease-end process is. You may or may not need to return it to them directly.

Re: Lease return questions

Thanks guy appreciate the feedback and I will look into all the above mentioned. What are your thoughts on the new Trailhawk? Worth it to upgrade from a limited, I love the looks of it and the Quadra lift standard. I wanted the ORII package when I got the limited but they didn't have any in the area so I settled without it. Also now that I know what my mileage has been in this lease I can probably drop it to 10K a year save some money there on a new lease.

The MY17 Trailhawk looks like it's going to be an awesome ride for folks who want or need it's unique capabilities.

Jim, I don't think he leased through independent leasing company, I think his deal was brokered by someone who works with a wholesale manager at a dealership so the whole transaction is taken care by the bank, the broker just makes the process smooth for the buyer. Car is still financed with Chrysler or Ally.

Yikes security dodge is the scummiest of the scummy. I'd do everything you can to avoid them. Bryan Busutil at Merrick Dodge is a good guy - let me know if you want his number I can PM you.

Re: Lease return questions

Yea I heard that about Security Dodge Jeep I leased through Plaza Auto leasing on Nostrand Ave in Brooklyn. My good friend has a hook up with Huntington Jeep in LI going to see what prices he can get me when the time comes.

If this is true, then for sure the dealer can handle. If not, they my suggestion to speak with the leasing company directly still stands. The OP's original message made me feel like it was an independent...

Makes me wonder how many non-commercial car manufactures allow 3rd party leasing companies, I know that many construction equipment is leased that way, wasn't sure if many cars are.

Re: Lease return questions

I worked with a leasing company years ago (associated business to the one I owned at the time)...and we leased many vehicles, despite that entity being focused a lot on the medical imaging market. Customer picked out what they wanted; leasing company acquired the vehicle to spec and then wrote the lease. Drop off was at the leasing company who then had to dispose of the vehicle.

The vehicle manufacturer doesn't really care who is "buying" the car...
