Lease Warranty

I recieved a letter from Chrysler stating that the warranty on my '14 Altitude that I leased last May will be expiring soon. I thought the warranty was for 30,000 miles for leased vehicles? Is it only 1 year ofr Jeeps? I've always leased cars but this is my first Jeep.

Re: Lease Warranty

Factory bumper to bumper warranty is 3 years / 36,000 miles. My guess is that it's just a marketing deal to get you to buy an extended warranty. Call the dealer to verify or send me the last 8 of your VIN and I can give you your coverage dates.

Too many mods to list for each, so let's just say a lot was done over the years.

Re: Lease Warranty

Is it actually from Chrysler or a third party company trying to sell you a warranty. I still get those notices for three vehicles I haven't owned in over 4 years. Always state "warning: your existing vehicle warranty is about to expire." They look official but I think they just blast them out to as many as possible to try to get a few bites.

It might be one of those, I don't think I looked at it that carefully but I do remember seeing the "warning". Thanks

Re: Lease Warranty

You're welcome. Factory warranty is 3 yr / 36,000 miles bumper to bumper and 5 year / 100,000 miles power train.

Re: Lease Warranty

I got one of these the other day as well for my 2014 that I bought new just a month ago. It took me a couple of minutes studying it to realize it's just a marketing flyer trying to panic me into calling them.

If you look at the front it says "personal and confidential" however, it's just a postcard with all the details on the other side free for anyone to see. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

Make sure that anything that is not from Chrysler/Mopar themselves is dispatched to file 13. Scare words such as warning, etc. are usually a tip off that you are dealing with a less than honest party.

You can check your current coverage status online, or at your dealer, since they can change it.

I don't recall any difference in warranty for lease vs buy unless that was part of your specific lease deal.

Too true! I guess they wouldn't do it if it didn't work.

I have read this before from others about leased vehicles and the warranty. The warranty is no different because its leased. Its 3/36 bumper to bumper and 5/100 powertrain weather you lease it or buy it. For the manufacture it makes no difference because to them its sale either way. If you buy it or a bank buys it doesn't matter its still a sale. So I don't understand why people think the car would have a different warranty for a lease??
