Yes. And real wood trim in the Overland.

Say it ain't so.
Are you saying that we got con by Chrysler?
Don't worry if ain't 100% genuine leather, there is still hope, in the future overland summit edition,we may get 100% genuine leather.
Then we can all drive up to Alaska in our future overland summit edition, and visit sister Sarah, and while sitting on our 100% genuine leather seats we can all say "I can see Russia from my jeep".
lol.

Re: Leather seats

the seats in my overland seem to be all leather except the side of the seat which is some sort of fabric, def not leather on the side.....the sides also seem to be sprayed with some sort of stain gaurd. maybe it was supposed to be all leather and the guys making the seats were drunk and or high and totally spaced on it. i still love jeep though....

Still milking that edition??? To put you at ease, I have learned from a friend at Jeep that it is the alliance with Summit Racing out of Ohio, and the vehicle will have buckeye logo stripes on a red and silver two tone paint job. Sorry about your all chrome edition!

Re: Leather seats

Guys the seats are fine... they seem great. No one I have shown mine to has noticed any lack of leather... I actually get the opposite response. They look and feel premium. Why worry about leather in places you never or rarely see or feel? Remember the Overland is significantly less costly then a comparable BMW, lexus, or landrover... $10s of thousands less in many cases. I for one am impressed with what you do get for $40k or less if you negotiate well!

I have had several nice vehicles where the sides of the seats are fabric rather than leather. They may do this to save money, but I think the fabric is more durable, particularly in areas where there is friction (e.g., where the seat rubs against the center console when you move it forwards and backwards).

May flex better and without cracking, too.

Re: Leather seats

We just spent some time at the dealer, and it seems to me that the edge of the seating surface (1"-2") from the sides is not leather, it is the same as all the other Grand Cherokees '99 + they all had the vinyl on the side that cracked with age, the only one that did not was my '04 Overland it had leather to the edge, but it had very thin leather that looked terrible.

Re: Leather seats

I believe the areas we are talking about are the "bolsters". My "98 Limited had leather bolsters and they wore MUCH better than the vinyl bolsters on my '05 Limited. The drivers side developed a crack over a year ago. I had associated the use of vinyl on the bolsters as part of the general cheap interior materials in the '05's.
When I went to see the 1st 2011 GC, the local dealer had a 2010 Limited and the bolsters were leather. I was surprised and a little disappointed to see the vinyl back in the 2011's.

Still, the 2011 interior is a MAJOR improvement as a whole.
