Each manufacturer is a little different too, for katskins ask to feel a sample. Nowadays most of it feels very real. In my ML it was actually just a little more stretchy than real leather IMO but that also meant it didn't wrinkle much at all and went back to form better. Certainly know one who didn't know it wasn't real leather couldn't tell. They just thought I kept my vehicle really nicely... which I do but this helped.

Once electronics are unplugged I wouldn't personally be worried. You could use an airbag as a punching bag, but it won't deploy without being plugged in. I'm sure Katzkin duplicates any potential "Weak spots" in the leather to allow the air bags to deploy.

I agree. Doesn't hurt to think about all of the salient details when doing a DIY project. And man, in the other post (1st page) the guy in the youtube video makes it look so easy. I wonder if it actually is that easy.

Re: Leather Seats

looks like all you need are those hog ring pliers. I'd certainly attempt it myself. Worst case scenario, you bring it to a shop after you try. Doesn't look like anything would be ruined if you screwed up...just look funny.

YA KNOW WHAT.. I agree. Now, let me search out some vendors (katzkin included) and see who's got good prices.

Re: Leather Seats

My dealer had added Katzkin leather to my 2014 JGC Laredo E as an option. They look great and the ones they chose have the Jeep mountain logo embroidered on the front seat backs. Mine are black (to go with the Marocco black interior) with off white piping. They look great and appear to be as well made as any factory leather I have seen. Not the best picture but you get the general idea.

I am more of a one tone guy, but your set up looks real good. Just wondering how the leather has held up. I have a baby and a dog, and just want to make sure it can take a small beating

Everything on the Katzkins are configurable/options. When you order them you specify the colors, thread colors, piping color, embroidered emblems or not, perforated sections or not, heated seats, etc. I can't say how well they will hold up since I have only had the JGC for 5 days, but they definitely look and feel well made. I have had factory leather from Ford & Jeep. The Katzkins look and feel every bit as good or better.

Re: Leather Seats

My wife's '11 Honda Odyssey has leather on the front seats and both outside second row seats. Then leatherette on the second row center and third row seats.

Even side by side like that, you'd never know there was a difference. I didn't realize it wasn't all leather until I read it somewhere. Knowing that it's different, I can tell...but I hadn't noticed for months and it doesn't bug me.

My brother had his first convertible (BMW Z3 that had red leather from the factory) re-done by a full custom shop this last year. It's in leatherette now, and looks/feels better than the factory BMW leather did.

Well, I found a place in NJ that does it for 1k cash (with warranty). A fellow jeeper from the other jeep forum used them and recommended. Still pleased to this day so, that is def an option. He got all leather i believe.

I don't have many passengers so I opted for the Tuscany full leather (Italian leather) package. In your case I would make sure to go with the regular automotive leather that Katzkin offers. I went with the two because I like contrast, but Katzkin will make the kit the way you want it. You said you were a single tone guy so they will be able to make a kit for you. If I were you, I'd let the NJ dealer you found install it. That way if you cut the leather during installation they are responsible for replacing anything not you. Katzkin is a great product have had mine in my Jeep since March 3rd and I have no show of wear... awesome product.
