leather seats

Just got my new GC Overland, morocco black leather. This is my first leather interior so I'm not sure if it's normal wear or not, but the drivers side seat bolster has started to show fine wrinkles after 1K miles. Normal or not? Appreciate the input.

Re: leather seats

Mine has the same. I don't remember my last two vehicles looking like this so soon.
But eventually, the piece that get the most wear will not stay perfectly smooth to the eye.

With just over 8K, frost leather, don't see any puckers, wrinkles, and I'm just over 200lbs.

Not that I would expect a dealer to agree with you.

Re: leather seats

Should have upgraded to the Summit and gotten the fine Corinthian plastic. 8500 miles and not a mark on it!

I was actually thinking tonight how I thought the leather was wearing better at 5k then my Acuras was at the same milage. I have barely noticeable wrinkling on the seat bottom bolster (I guess that's what you'd call it) on the door side and I always rub slide against that when I climb in and out.

Re: leather seats

Not sure on Overland. But...

The bolsters on many leather interiors are not actually real leather.

Re: leather seats

Overland and summit use real leather.. Most manufactures now (especially in the UK) have to inform the customer whether the leather is real or not, most manufactures say "leather* interior". *atificial leather.

The Overland uses real leather, called Nappa which we all probably already know..

The Summit uses Natura Plus leather, still real leather but a slightly different method is use in it's preparation and manufacturing process. The Natura plus leather is based on and uses the same process as Natura leather. Natura meaning natural, nature etc etc...

This leather uses no chemicals at all in the manufacturing process, only natural ingredients are used, even natural ingredients are used in the tanning process. This is good for people who are allergic to chemicals in leather, so if you are allergic to the chemicals used in leather, the Summit is the car for you. The leather is one of the most breathable types of leather available.

The "Plus" in Natura Plus, just means that the leather has an extended treatment, to make it a more supple and softer leather. Extra treatment is done to make the leather more stable and as durable as other top quality leathers on the market..

So in summery, it's real leather, chemical free, and very soft :-)

The reason you'll are not finding anything on google when searching "Natura leather" is because the term "Natura" is not an official name of the leather such as Nappa, Nubuck, Patent etc, etc.. The name "Natura" is a Trademark name given to leather which has undergone this chemical free process, The name "Natura" is a regisered Trademark which belongs to a specific manufacturer.. I explained it the best I could, Hope it makes sense?

To find more info on the leather, you have to search, "chrome free leather "or "chemical free leather" to pull more results..

Re: leather seats

I didn't say they don't use real leathet at all.

The whole seat might not be leather.

It wasn't in my old limited and isn't in my wifes vw.

Many cars, what is in the center is leather.

They were both "leather interior".

I don't actually care, the Vinyl actually holds up better.

Wasn't talking to you directly, was just a general post, I don't remember quoting anyone..??

There has been a lot of misconceptions regarding the authenticity of the leather seats in the summit. Just letting folks know it's real!!

Re: leather seats

my limited has leather "seating surfaces" so headrests etc are fake... but as far as wear n tear... so far not bad.. 2500 miles. My only complaint is that the lumbar "squeaks" lean forward squeeeek.. lean back.. squeeeeek.. might mention that on next trip in.

The "list" of stuff to fix/look at on my next trip in is growing. Longest list ever for any new car i have ever owned. Enough that may deter me from another jeep. i love the jeep... just dont think a new vehicle should ever have the issues that we have seen.
