Limit on height of power hatch

My wife pointed out how high the power hatch went when we were at the dealer. She was right. Could never open it to that height in the garage. Is there someway to limit the travel?

There is nothing to "limit the travel" in the conventional sense. Some Ford and GM models have a knob that can limit the hatch to only open 3/4 of the way.

The only option you have is to open it and then apply some force to stop it from continuing the motion. There are a few threads in the forums that address this issue but no resolution that I recall

Ford has an even better idea. Once you open the tailgate you pull it down to the height you want an hold the button for 5 seconds. It remembers that height until you change it. Mine was a MY15 Escape

A neighbor of mine from where I used to live attached a boat cushion to his garage door where his deck lid hit. It was a manual lid.

I have a standard garage door. As long as I pull in passed where the bottom panel hangs down, I have about 2" clearance when I open it.

I know I would have a problem because I only have a 6'6" door. That's one reason I can only have the Chevy pickup on my list of vehicles to consider. When we were at the dealer the hatch when opened all the way looked a lot higher than that. My wife's 5'4" and she couldn't reach it. Maybe if I didn't pull in beyond a certain point, the high edge would be outside of the garage. Something to check into.
