I have been having a new problem just checking to see if anyone else is having the same problem. The last few weeks I have had to hit my lock button on the door handle 2 sometimes 3 times before it will lock. Now today I locked the car and it locked but then the horn honked 3 times and the car unlocked so I had to go lock it again. Is this just mine or has anyone ever seen this before? If so were you able to get it fixed. I know that if I take my devil car in it will just stop doing it so they will not do anything to fix it.
Mine doesn't lock sometimes after 2-3 pushes and just blinks the lights, very frustrating. I'm taking it to the dealer on Monday to have it checked out along with some other issues.
Once in a while, I'll have to push the handle button a couple of times to lock it also. But I don't see the lights flash or anything. It's like I didn't push it hard enough.
So when I don't hear the locks, lock. I'll look right at the button and push. And then it locks like it should....:slapfight:
Only the button on the passenger door is "stubborn" in that way on my MY12...takes three pushes. The other two (driver door and rear lift-gate) all take only one push. Heck, the driver door button can be hit with my elbow and it works.
I don't own a GC but I recall reading somewhere (no guarantee it was for jeeps) that if you left a key fob in the vehicle and tried to lock it it would sound the horn a few times and then unlock. Now that I think about it that may be ram trucks.
Honk, honk, honk means the vehicle thinks the key fob is inside the vehicle. Sometimes the proximity sensor thinks it is inside for whatever reason. My 2011 did that about every three months or so. No biggie except make sure the doors are locked after getting the triple horn warning.
I am just so frustrated with all the glitches that this car has. Can't get anything fixed because they can't repeat the problems, makes the warranty basically useless.
I was able to show them the flashing, well the Service advisor not the tech. We'll see what happens. I hear you in the issues, I told them I smelled an oil burning smell 2 weeks ago when they had it and they couldn't see anything leaking. They changed the cabin filter and was done with it. On Saturday I noticed my motor smoking heavily and was able to video it. There is ps fluid missing after they topped it off 2 weeks ago. They're checking the ps system today.
The burning oil smell is coming from melting carpet down by the gas pedal it is laying on the heater core line coming through the fire wall. They have to put something to stand it off so it doesn't touch and the smell will stop.
lol mine since the day I got it sometimes take 2-4 pushes to lock it.. but I don't have any honks or lights flashing while I press it... since it always has locked under 4 presses, I never cared.
I have a hard time when I paid almost 50k for a vehicle not caring when it dosn't work correctly. I know its not a big deal, but in just isn't right and I like it to be right that's why I bought a new car not a used one.
Aside from the couple of times it's honked at me 3 times and unlocked, it is pretty damn annoying having to finesse pressing the lock button (on the door handle), hoping it will work the first time. Usually it takes me about 2-3 times to get it to lock. It shouldn't be that way.
My last car worked flawlessly each time, one press in and out. But that's probably because it was a BMW. :/
I love how you say "Finesse". It really sucks when you expect it to just work on the first press and then as everyone else has walked away, while you're still pressing it watching the mirrors blink.
I just have to go old school and use the FOB.
Mine worked great for the first 8 months and just started doing this I wish it would just stop working altogether so I can take it in and get it fixed.
Lol, so the dealer just called me and went over a few things with me and said the tech couldn't find anything wrong with the key n go. I told him to go try it again and again until I pick it up tomorrow.
My dealer service department couldn't get the passenger door lock button to fail today, too...but it takes three tries every time I try to use it! Gremlins....
Damn, lol maybe I should read the owners manual. :wtf:
I just read something interesting under the Key n go notes.
* After pressing the Keyless Enter-N-Go LOCK button, you must wait 2 seconds before you can lock or unlock the vehicle using the door handle. This is done to allow you to check if the vehicle is locked by pulling on the door handle without the vehicle reacting and unlocking.*
That's about how long it takes to press the button 2-3 times. I'll try it when I pick it up from the dealer later on today. Press once and wait 2 secs to press again for locks to engage.
My unlock works flawless, only locking is my issue. Must be more patient for 2 secs!
This may be silly and you have all thought of it, but...
After reading through this thread and having had the issue myself a bit, I thought about how the handle works and realized I was doing it to myself.
When you go to unlock the vehicle, you just put your fingers around the handle and it unlocks. What I didn't think through at first was if you put your fingers in the handle when you press the lock button, the handle is being asked to both unlock and lock the vehicle at the same time.
So, starting Saturday up to and including today, I have been careful to just press the button without putting my fingers into the handle, and so far, it has locked every time.
