Re: Looking at 2013 Overland

I bought the Jeep for a couple of reasons.....
My wife has a 2015 Limited that is wonderful to drive. I loved it since she bought it. Then, I had a Ram truck that was in need of a lot of stuff....time to trade. My son sells cars at a Chrysler Jeep dealer in Jacksonville, IL and he called me when this one was traded in. A local trade from a customer that bought a 2016 Overland Summit....was always garaged, and serviced at the dealership since new.
I really haven't used the truck for hauling for a while, and I have a 10 foot utility trailer for hauling....the Jeep has the Hemi with a trailer package, so I think I am good....
My wife has the v6 in her Jeep, and it has plenty of power. My 2013 came with the Hemi and my son told me to jump on it, so I did....hahah

I'd put that in the "nitpicking" category. I could upgrade the HU generally, but I can't say this really bothers me. No HU's that I'm aware of will natively run Waze, so regardless I'm stuck using my smartphone for that anyway.

Yeah the 8spd changes everything about the car! I don't even think the 2011-2013 has an official sport mode. Atleast not like the 2014+ models.
It definitely has a sport mode. I use it for about 80% of my driving.

Instrument cluster is also nbd in my book. The new transmission, on the other hand, is something I really wish I had. The older transmission seems to be fine once the truck is already moving, but even in sport could do better when you're at a standstill.

Re: Looking at 2013 Overland

My wifes 2015 limited does have the 8.4 screen and it is absolutely nicer than the smaller one in my overland. The bigger screen is easier to see, and it is a tad less clunky to use. However, my 5.4 screen does everything well and the only thing it lacks is the current road's speed limit as far as i can tell. Herc8 speed with the v6 is superb. My 6 speed with the hemi is very good also...
My overland definitely rides smoother that my wifes limited due to the air suspension....not a big difference but noticeable.
We are super happy with both vehicles.

Please please please get a pretty purchase inspection.

WK2 is built to take a beating and it can.

It's the little things that might make or brake how happy you are with them.

Take another test drive , listen and feel for small things.

Example. ..Steering (rack/pump),rear /front suspension noises, sunroof rattle, brake noise, vehicle vibration at highway speed, misaligned bumpers, check radio updates, exterior lights burn out prematurely

Other than the steering rack the list is minor.

Solid performer overall tho.

Oh ya...Dealership service needs work.

Good luck

Yep, they have an official sports mode. They also have a cd player and flipper glass.

Re: Looking at 2013 Overland

I just bought the exact same truck. 32K Miles, V8 5.7 Hemi Overland with Blind Spot and ACC + FCW. Part of me wishes I waited to find a 2014. I do hate the shifter system in the 2014 + 2015 and love it on the newer models. I have 5 years to pay off this truck so I'm stuck on the fence right now, in 5 years that interior is going to feel OLD but if I stick it out I'll have a decent trade in and at that point can prob get a much newer (but still used b/c I'll never buy a new car) Grand Cherokee.

I DO LOVE THIS TRUCK!!!!

Re: Looking at 2013 Overland

Hey there and congratulations on a VERY cool truck,I don't own an Overland but very nearly did,but couldn't agree a price so opted for a different model with the spec I wanted off the lot (hate waiting for delivery, like a kid all pissed off waiting when I ordered my '11 years ago).Never had a days problem with my '11 other than service and any recalls needed, and only problem we have had on our '15 was a glitchy/frozen 8.4 screen that was replaced after 3rd visit.Nope, not strange owning 2 Jeeps,I own 4 and wouldn't be bothered driving them anywhere.
Most already know, and do this anyway, but will mention it anyway as a tip for those who don't..........about once every couple of months I use leather conditioner on my seats,I put the cream on a lint free cloth and make sure I get every part of the seats, keeps them supple and strong,so I don't have wear/creases or cracks. The '11 has black seats,so wasn't bothered as it wouldn't darken the color. Our '15 has grey to,no problem there either, the Liberty Limited is different,it's two tone,brown/beige,and ventilated leather, that was a little tougher so worked the cream into the cloth then hit the seats,(otherwise it would drive me insane getting it out of the perforations!),the old faithful '90 Wrangler now has red leather seats,(HUGE mistake on my part, being convertible they have faded some and unevenly over 4 years!!) but getting back on track,I find the conditioner invaluable, the '11 JGC and the '08 Liberty still have great seating, including the drivers seats. The '15,is too new anyway but has the same treatment.Might not seem like much of a tip as I know a lot here take good care of their rides, but thought it worth mentioning, especially if there are little ones and pets as regular travel companions.
Again, congratulations on purchasing a GREAT ride, and your wife already has an awesome Jeep in that V6.Often underrated but has been great in my '11 and issue free.

Re: Looking at 2013 Overland

2013 MY was last model before facelift / mini redesign. Should be very solid.
