Looking at 2013 Overland

I found a 2013 Grand Cherokee overland with 35,000 miles. The dealer let me drive it over night and I drove the wheels off it. I checked everything and all works perfectly....
Are there any known issues with these?
I never owned ond before and it surely seems sweet.....
Any advice and info is appreciated.....tganks

The only issue I've heard about is that the Quadra Lift can fail, I believe it's happened to a couple of people on the forum. If you can get a service contract/ warranty it shouldn't be a problem. I've heard the Overlands are great vehicles.

Re: Looking at 2013 Overland

My 2011 has had the quadralift fail 3 times already under 40k miles, if you're paying for repairs on that the system is around 1500 to repair. I have an Overland Summit and love it except for the air suspension (squeaks like hell in winter as well)

Re: Looking at 2013 Overland

I have a 13 Overland 3.6 4x4. Just hit 41,000

It had its growing pains in the beginning with the driveshaft being replaced and then 6 months later the steering rack was replaced due to a leak.

It's been solid ever since. Quadralift works great. Paint looks brand new. I am impressed with it and love taking it on new adventures.

At 35k the stock tires are probably at the end of their life. Not sure what's on the one you are looking at but I just replaced the goodyears with Michelin Defender LTX tires. Great all around performance and awesome in the snow.

You will enjoy it.

Is it a 5.7 or 3.6?

How much are they asking? I'm curios to what they are going for.

Re: Looking at 2013 Overland

Bought our 2013 JGC Overland a year ago in January of 2015. It had about 47m on it. It's a 2wd with the 5.7l V8 and we love it. The service history showed only oil changes and the necessary recalls. I've had the fuel relay recall done. It has been flawless except for the door locks insisting on unlocking sometimes when I sit near it. Something to do with the key fob.

Go for it.

Smile Re: Looking at 2013 Overland

Thanks folks, I appreciate all of the replies.

I went ahead and bought it, and I love it. The dealer let me take it home over night (my son is actually the salesman), and it was an hour home and an hour back this morning....good long test drive. I tried every possible option, and it is almost perfect.

It has the original michelin tires and they look better than half good, maybe more...at least a year left.

It has the 5.7 Hemi and it runs great.....had it over 100 mph on the way back this morning and it was as solid as it was at 65.....got 20.8 mpg for the two hour round trip.

They were asking $34,995, but we settled on $31,200. Not bad, I think.

Awesome! Congrats. You're going to love it. Seems like a great price to me. These models hold their value pretty well.

That's outstanding mpg for the 5.7.

Michelin's. Sounds like your's has the 18's and the off road package. If so you also have skid plates. Solid Jeep!

Re: Looking at 2013 Overland

I have a 2013 Overland with the 5.7L. Have over 74k miles at this point and it is a fantastic car. I drive it over 100mph routinely and it performs superbly, especially now that I have changed out the Goodyear Fortera 20" tires for Pirelli Scorpion Verdes.

The only thing you're missing is the newer/nicer transmission. You can live with the current one and if nothing else at least it is reliable, but I find that from a dead stop it is slow to get the car moving. More often than not I find myself simply throwing the car into "Sport" mode.

Also, the Alpine Premium audio is lackluster. I just swapped out most speakers and the sub. But this is starting to get into nitpicking.

Re: Looking at 2013 Overland

^^Also missing the 8.4" uConnect, which makes the interior look far more impressive. And there's a list of many more things but that would be tacky to point out.

Re: Looking at 2013 Overland

And the digital instrument cluster! I personally love the 2014+ and I'm kinda surprised he went with the older one when the prices of a 2014 V8 4x4 are in the same range, but all that matters is he loves it and it sounds like he is very happy.
Yeah the 8spd changes everything about the car! I don't even think the 2011-2013 has an official sport mode. Atleast not like the 2014+ models.
