Re: Looking for recomendations for Extended Warranties

From contract:
"FIRST DAY RENTAL/CAR RENTAL ALLOWANCE:
Coverage starts on the date you purchase the Plan and is
not subject to a deductible. First Day Rental Allowance
provides $35 car rental allowance if the vehicle is to be
serviced for any same day mechanical or maintenance
service."

under the standard 3/36 for warranty work do they have to give you a rental? I don't know the answer to that not sure. I don't think they do but I am not 100% sure I think the rental is just part of the extend contract thing but maybe someone else who knows for sure can chime in.

Dealer just told me that when I set up to bring it in next week that maximum care was covering my rental while it was in for the 2 days and that enterprise car rental is on site no appointment necessary.

Nope, unless you have a dealer who is REALLY nice and has their own loaner program. This yet another reason why I like having my Lifetime Maxcare service contract...the loaner/rental benefit. (That benefit isn't lifetime, however...it cuts out after a bunch of years go by)

Just my opinion but $2000 for unlimited/unlimited/100 is a very good price if you could get them down to that.

I typically don't buy or believe in the extended contracts but this was to good of an offer to pass up IF you keep your jeep for a long time. think how much a busted uconnect or air lift or whatever will hit you with 5 years from now, I think this thing will pay for itself real fast when he jeep starts getting up there in the age and miles.

When I bought mine dealer told me the maximum care was more about listing what wasn't covered vs. what is covered as most all mechanical and electrical is covered.

One other good thing which I didn't realize at the time I bought is that it covers a rental car for a period of time when you have your jeep in for work. as most jeep dealers don't do loaners it is nice to have the rental as I don't have a second car. making use of it next week when my jeep goes in for a day or two for some fix up items
So you were able to get the unlimited Maximum care through your dealer? Curious as all of the online sites say it is unavailable and show the 8 Year/120,000 Mile/100 Deductible as the highest.

Re: Looking for recomendations for Extended Warranties

Thanks for all the great info. I am seriously considering either the Lifetime ($2335) or the 8yr/120k ($2150) MaxCare for my 2011 Overland Summit (35,600 miles). The main advantage of the 8yr is that it would be transferable which could help when it comes time to sell. I'll probably keep this vehicle for at least 5-6 years. Of course I may trade it in at that time, not sure being transferable would help in that case. Coming from a '99 WJ the amount of expensive looking electrical and mechanical parts (QL) has me a little freaked out.

Any advice here?

ETA: Fixed prices.

I just took the best online price I could find for the unlimited/unlimited/100 to my dealer when I was buying the jeep and asked them to beat it and they did and that was how I got he $2100.

Just me but I would not buy the extended warranty if you are going to only keep a car 5 years or so just doesn't seem worth it. You already have the 3/36 so you would be paying $2150 for 2 or so additional years of coverage just doesn't seem worth it to me. I usually keep a car roughly 10 years so I feel like the unlimited maxcare is a good for me. Agree with you lots of stuff to break especially in the higher trim levels. Just my opinion.

Peace of mind is priceless especially when you're talking about a car with all of these electronics and air suspension, you'll pat yourself on the back later when something happens and you need a rental car also while you're vehicle is in the repair shop for 2 plus days.

I noticed you had Diesel in your Signature. Unlimited is not available on Diesel. Strange, but true.

Yeah but the other plans are transferable. Which will add value to selling it or make it easier to sell. Some plans will give you credit on what you don't use too, not sure if that's the case here.

Just remember that to the best of my knowledge the 8 years starts with when the car was originally sold, not when you bought the service contract, so you're already a couple years into it. I opted for lifetime since I'm piling on the miles faster than I used to and didn't want to run out of coverage before I actually decide to get my next one.
