looking for recommendation on where to find good set of wheels for snow tires

This is for a v8 14 gc, so it will be 18"... I've missed a few deals here :-( found some used OEMs on ebay, that look nice, also found this one on tirerack

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...I2&qty_front=4

but I have no idea how good/bad they are... what are you guys using with snow tires? any recommendation on where to find oem 18" wheels for a good price?

thanks!

I've picked up a set of Vision Assasins from Discount Tire. They are 5-127 18 inch by 18.5 and will stick out just a tad further than stock 18s.

I haven't found any OEMs at really reasonable price, if you google for their part numbers from the 2014 accessories catalog. some of the online dealers are discounting them a bit.

Re: looking for recommendation on where to find good set of wheels for snow tires

I live in Minnesota, and have had JGC since 1997. I have always gone with the stock tires in the winter, and have never had a problem. No need to keep 4 extra tires around and deal with the seasonal changing of tires.

I would be careful with aftermarket wheels. I would probably try to pick up some oem at a good price.

Either watch Craigslist for a local used set, or watch DiscountTireDirect deals in late Fall. Around Black Friday, you can typically pick up some killer deals on DTD. They often have $200 off set of wheels+tires, plus additional factory rebates. If you have a V6, you can probably go 17" -- as long as they didn't increase the brake size on the '14s.

Re: looking for recommendation on where to find good set of wheels for snow tires

I ordered these through my local guy, which he gets them from Tirerack or wherever he can get the best price. These are 18's, and had a little caliper clearance issue with the hemi tow pkg brakes...3mm spacer fixed it. I also got the "tire rack" to hang on the wall in the garage...totally worth it, wheels/tires up out of the way, and it kinda looks cool.

I suggest Tire Rack. Got mine from them all mounted plus sensors ready to mount on the Jeep.

I got a set from Discount Tire, same place I got winter wheels for my prior GC that worked just fine with no issues.

This time I went with powder coating rather than paint, as the winters in the mountains here can be nasty.

The guys at Discount went with the OEM Mopar TPS sensors rather than aftermarkets.

You COULD use your normal tires, but for the benefit of the Minnesota optimist, 4 wheel drive should never be confused with 4 wheel stop unless your mother is your insurance agent. There isn't a single all season tire that can stop like a decent low temperature winter tire with the snowflake symbol in the same quality category [to avoid comparing Michelin/Nokian with no-names].

The official Mopar accessory wheels [Jeep SUVs & Crossovers | Official Jeep Site | Jeep owners] are available for quite a bit less than the suggested list price from a number of online jeep dealers, but they are still fairly pricey--but if you want originals, they have some nice looking ones to me.

I've been looking at some take offs on ebay in very good conditions and there are few sets with prices about $125 or so per wheel...

do I have to worry about any fit issues on the summit v8 with any 18"x8" oem?

most of them are said to fit any 11-13 except for the srt

Re: looking for recommendation on where to find good set of wheels for snow tires

Shouldn't have issue with OEMs. The wheels I posted weren't too pricey, maybe 160/ea, my buddy got me 4 wheels plus sensors and mounted up tires I had from the wrangler for about $800 with all new lug nuts too...plus those are what the wife picked so there wasn't really any "options" but what she liked
