Re: Looking to Trade our 15 Altitude for a 16 High Altitude.. Engine Advice requested

After a full week of owning my new High Altitude V6 I have no regrets. Except for low end peppiness the V6 feels just as quick as the V8, it's a more quiet driving experience, drives/handles and feels significantly lighter (my V8 Summit felt like a tank), better steering (I guess V8 is getting electric steering for 2016), V6 doesn't recommend the use of mid grade fuel, so far at only 230 miles on the odo and in the dead of winter I'm already beating my best ever mpg that my Summit got in the summer with 5000 miles on it (and that's driving moderately for breakin as recommended in manual). Initial cost will be $3000+ less.
Overall I am extremely happy with my V6 HA and even though that is neither of the engines you asked about, I have to recommend it after having experience in both.

Re: Looking to Trade our 15 Altitude for a 16 High Altitude.. Engine Advice requested

^^You and I have done the same thing now, gone from a 14 Hemi to 15 Pentastar, except I put 50k mi on my 14. I completely agree with you. It's very capable of carrying the GC.

The transmission has been slightly less smooth in the V6 and it has 'quirks'. For example, it won't use 8th gear above 79mph. Under hard acceleration shifting from 1-2 and 2-3 it makes a terrible noise.

The 2016s are all getting the same power steering system, electric. But it's not the same as what our V6s currently use. Should be interesting.

Interesting, not sure what that noise is all about. I know things can change, but as of now at 250 miles this tranny is extremely smooth and that's even during some very cold startups as well. Infact if I had to do a direct comparison this V6 tranny is smoother than my V8 tranny....and more quiet. My '14 V8 made a swoosh sound during shifts (very quiet, but noticeable if radio is off). The V8 tranny also had a kind of harsh 1-2 shift. Not harsh like there was something wrong with it, but it had a slight delay that was long enough that when engaging 2nd you really felt the shift. I'm enjoying the smoothness so far with this '15 V6.

In oz we mainly buy diesel, power is great economy is great and the price of the fuel here is generally cheaper that petrol..... Winning.. All that also makes the resale value great.

Thanks for correcting that tax oopsy that was quoted as 7.25 in Illinois. It hasn't been that low in crook county in a long time.
