Re: Looks like ford is targeting jeep?

The 2 door looks good, but has over exaggerated styling almost out of a Disney's "Cars".

If Ford does come out with something, that suggesting that the SUV market is still healthy enough for them to bother reaching for a chunk of it. Ford clearly abandoned that market with the new Explorer and the fact that they don't bring the new Ranger to the US.

Ford has nothing for someone wanting a 4WD drive train but not a lumbering beast like the F-150. The Bronco gives them access to that market without necessarily completely canibalizing its lucrative F-150 market.

But even then, the Bronco will be a niche even for Ford. It won't be as civilized as a JGC, they can't have it compete directly with the Explorer, so there's no reason to soften it up. It would likely compete more with the FJ.

We'll wait and see if this comes out. But seeing what I see, I don't even know if I (as owner of 4 straight Fords) would pick one up over the JGC. I wanted a daily driver that will get me in and out of the desert, not a desert truck for a daily driver.

I'm a die hard jeep guy, but......

I LOVE IT, it gives homage to the real bronco, and hate it or love it, it looks true bronco.

NOW, if we can get someone at ram to come up with a 2015 Ramcharger, based on a short short wheelbase ram power wagon with 2 doors and 5 seat, and the new hellcat engine, that will be a fun ride.

And then we can have broncos vs. Ramchargers again.

I missed the first round as I couldn't afford either back in the days, but this time around.........

Its not like this is Broncos vs Chargers or something.

Next we need International to resurrect the Scout.

I'd personally love to see a Baja featuring NEW models of the Grand Cherokee, Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited, International Scout, Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Bronco, etc, literally banging it out head to head. Would improve all of them.
I have owned a Bronco and two Explorers. The Explorers never came close to the Bronco in capability and I was disappointed with both of them for off road use. I had an International Scout for a while as my primary vehicle in Viet Nam. Other than its ability to rust in the middle of a desert, it was a solid vehicle. I would put the 78 Bronco I had up against either of the 4Runners (86 and 95) for offroad capability.

Once again, Ford still uses the "50's" technology you speak of, don't you have some apex's to chase or sheep to get out of the cold?

That is your personal opinion. What caught my attention and caused me to order my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited II was the style of it's front end. I am tired of the old BOX style for 4 X 4s. I love my new Cherokee and its capabilities are truly amazing. Can't wait for it to win Truck of the Year at the Detroit International Auto Show in a few days.
