Re: Lost the jeep today I think?

Speaking of stability control, has anyone seen the moose test? Supposedly Jeep made changes to the ESP for 2014 so it's better then it was before.

Op, glad you guys are ok. That would definitely be a scary experience.

For 2016, there wasn't an Altitude. So what will you get?

They totaled it. Probably looking at a 75th anniversary limited in silver or granite. I loved the look of the altitude and they are making them for 2017 but they don't start production until October and can't wait that long they have some big discounts on the 16's so I may get a one. So hopefully I can a 75th limited for the price I paid for the altitude. I'll keep you posted

Not that I'm saying I want it to have no traction controls at all, but some of these systems that are designed for luxury street queens (cough cough, Mercedes, BMW), is not the ideal format for a vehicle marketed as an off-road capable machine like the Jeep is. Yes I want my Jeep to be well mannered on the road too, but if I want a vehicle that's going to do all the driving for me, I'm probably not going to take it off the pavement. In which case, then I guess it's time to consider a $60K+ luxury car instead of a $40K Jeep. Just my two cents though. My opinion on it is no more valid than anyone else, so take it for what it's worth. That said though, the Fortera's are pretty mediocre tires.
Agree that Jeep is much better off-road vehicle. However, in AUTO mode, it should be the most aggressive stability control. SNOW, SAND, MUD and ROCK is where the stability functions are adjusted for type of terrain. QT2 in Auto mode is not as good as some others out there. Where the Jeep excels is when you are able to select the modes based on terrain.

Don't forget to check in with Craig@Koons relative to the Jeep Garage "Group Buy" program...huge inventory and probably the best pricing in the country. And a reasonable distance for you to pick up a new ride. There's a separate forum area here that includes contact information for Craig.

Re: Lost the jeep today I think?

What will the insurance do with regards to issuing you a check versus what the jeep was worth blue or black book or if you had a remaining balance? How will that work exactly?

Re: Lost the jeep today I think?

They will send payment to the lien holder for the balance due. Any amount paid in excess of what you owe on the loan will be sent via a check payable to the policy holder.
In some cases, I've heard, they send the entire amount to the lien holder, and the overage is sent to you from the financial institution that had the loan. That's all hearsay though, so I'd expect the former rather than the latter.

I think he was more asking how the insurance company will value it not how the check is delivered. I think some insurance companies will give you MSRP (or what you paid) if it's less than 1 year old.

Re: Lost the jeep today I think?

I paid extra for coverage if totaled within 3 years they give a check for comparable new model. They will figure the numbers with rebates and what's on the lots now. 16 or 17 model year. I'll probably go 16 they have some bigger discount. The sticker on my altitude was just under 42k plus the nav activation. Adjuster is going to call sometime today with the number. There was a 16 75th anniversary limited with a sticker of just under 45k for just under 37k. So we will see what they come back with.

Re: Lost the jeep today I think?

I didn't read each of the prior posts but both vehicles should have recorded speed, driver input, etc. for the time prior to the crash. I was in an accident and within an hour of the crash the accident inspectors had downloaded the data.

Yes, both of those vehicle will have CDR data that is downloadable. Not all agencies have the equipment to access it though, and IIRC Cleveland PD does not. With a crash like this, they're not likely to call someone in specifically to read it since it doesn't appear to be an issue. Little to no injury, with a pretty clear indication of fault (based on what we're told). If both parties, and/or witness statements indicate the same, they'll file the report with what info they currently have and not give the module a second thought.

As you noted though, if the equipment to read it is on hand, it only takes a few minutes to collect the data.
