Maintenance Contracts

Hey guys. I'm curious if there is such thing as maintenance contracts available for our Jeeps that we can purchase. I'd be interested in something like Lifetime Oil changes or something along those lines; 2 oil changes per year would suffice.

Yes, they have those packages as dealer-add-ons.

Re: Maintenance Contracts

My dealer threw in 3 years of maintenance when I purchased my Summit the other day.

Re: Maintenance Contracts

Are these typically available only when you first buy the car or can you buy a package later on?

Re: Maintenance Contracts

Some dealer service operations offer maintenance bundles...mine does, including pre-paid oil changes. (I wouldn't buy one because I use synthetic oil and the packages never include that or only offer a very small discount in lieu of dino-oil)

Those are big money makers for the dealer so I'm sure they'll be glad to work out something with you.

I must be a bigger cheapskate than you are... I buy the 3 packs of synth changes, then just pay the difference between dino and synth for the ones in the extended service package.

For the OP, there are all sorts of these available. I recommend buying only buying those sold by Jeep as opposed to non-Mopar sources. Some of those are good, but others aren't. The mopar ones are flagged right on your VIN, so any dealer can look them up.

There are online dealers whose prices are lower, but if you get those prices, only a stupid/greedy dealer wouldn't match them. And they'd still be on the hook with Mopar for honoring them.

A lot of dealers here in NYC/Long Island area offer for as long as you own the vehicle free oil changes, and yearly inspections for free.

Re: Maintenance Contracts

lstowell, I use an independent shop for my synthetic oil changes...they are less money than the dealer, even with coupons/incentives applied...by about twenty bucks. And they don't charge me for tire rotation.

Re: Maintenance Contracts

While I can certainly understand that some people don't like working on their vehicles, this is seriously a 5 minute job (plus oil drain time) and requires very little "skill"...

The oil filter is accessible from the top and unless you're HUGE, you should easily fit underneath without having to raise the vehicle. I'm 200 lbs and fit underneath easily.

Items you'll need (for a V6 2014):
13mm socket - drain plug
24mm socket - oil filter
6 qts of your favorite full synthetic oil (Mobil1 for me)
MOPAR oil filter: 68191349AA ($7.25 shipped on Amazon)

You've spent about $40 total for the oil/filter. What a sense of accomplishment and no need to go to the dealer
