Excellent, we obviously drove different cars. Maybe, I should not say I drove a car because compared to the mustang, the "things" I drove back then are not cars . BTW, what RPM did you have in 2nd gear when you hit almost 85mph? And hiting is different than cruising at that speed ...you can hit any speed in any gear if you really want with a manual transmission ....

Re: Man am I glad I ordered the Hemi!

I live in Chicago and have the v6. Pretty happy with it. Truthfully, neither engine floored me in terms of performance. The V8 is more of an effortless engine. Although I love my jeep and the new v6 is a big improvement over the previous v6, i feel jeep has room for improvement for both engines.

Re: Man am I glad I ordered the Hemi!

The V6 feels slow because of the gear ratios and tall final drive that was probably selected in the name of highway fuel economy; we all know how the debate about lower RPMs goes, however. Witness here that with the V6 and W5A580, 3rd gear (1.41:1) has long legs, FWIW.

Yes indeed. So V6 is at 72mph at 3500 rpm. Good. I'm not crazy!

Hmmm, looking at your great chart Bmwister, if and when my Hemi equipped WK2 finally shows up, I definitely have to try to get to 6500rpm in 5th gear.

You might well be crazy, but this isn't necessarily the indicator.

Re: Man am I glad I ordered the Hemi!

I like the way that the dual exhausts compliment and add to the overall look of the vehciles rear. And, I love the power & sound of the HEMI.

But, i've always been a V8 guy. My only V6 was a 2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe - but it had dual exhaust and was a lot of fun to drive!

If you can't tell I am shallow

Re: Man am I glad I ordered the Hemi!

Why I really bought the V-6 rather than the V-8
based on 100,000 miles. For ease of math 20mpg for v-6 versus 15mpg v-8.
savings in cost of gas at $3 per gallon = $ 5,000
savings in initial cost = $ 1,500
savings in time stopping to fill up every = 9.6 hrs PRICELESS
400 miles versus every 300 miles 7 min per
stop
NOW IF I CAN JUST FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THE BARBER TO CUT MY HAIR WHILE I'M DRIVING.
