No you didn't.

Try to explain it away as "Hemi time" all you want, we all know you had an 80s flashback and said "Hammer time" before heading home to put on your parachute pants to do the typewriter.

Re: Man am I glad I ordered the Hemi!

This thread is somewhat amusing to me considering I don't think the 5.7 V8 has enough power in it's current form but not knowing when the SRT will be available or what it's capabilities are going to be I'm willing to settle with 360 HP. If the SRT comes along and has close to the 500HP being advertised and can still tow 7200 lbs I'll probably be trading in 2012 or 2013.

Do I need it, who cares, I want it..... If I just wanted to get from point A to point B I'd buy a Kia.

This is true however I do think the standard 5.7 Hemi has enough power and this is coming from someone who likes to go fast. Had a 08 SRT8 and now have a 06 C6 Z06 vette. Even my 05 Limited Hemi (that had 30hp less than the new one) felt pretty damn quick.

Either way I agree with you the new SRT8 should be bad ass. However I didnt even consider buying it as I know fuel economy will be same if not worse than the 06-08 SRT8 (WK2 SRT8=more power and heavier) and thats why I ended up selling my 08 because of fuel economy. I knew what I was getting into, but it was down right horrible. Got soooooo annoying filling up that tank with premium every 3 days. No thanks!
If the new SRT8 were to be a non-daily driven fun car then fine, but then why would you get an SUV as a 2nd car just doesnt make sense. If your gonna buy a summer weekend car go all out and get like a Z06 or something (plus I can get 30mpg on the hwy in that beast 20 around town). :-)

Between the horrendous SRT8 fuel economy and how much more the 2012 SRT will cost over the Overland it wasnt even a consideration to me. Sure will be sweet though!

Per your comment, safe and confident Hemi-powered egress from dicey situations is a good thing.
X3!! I had my own "Hemi Time" moment today, just gotta love the torque and speed that the engine can put out if you need it

Re: Man am I glad I ordered the Hemi!

Well, I got the V6 and it seems good. Would the V8 be nicer, you bet. But the extra up front cash, plus the gas mileage, maintenance, etc. all made me wonder if it was really worth it. I think probably was, but if I got my heart set on a V8 then I'd probably just wait and get the SRT, so then I'd be Jeepless while I wait.

I also have my heart set on getting one of the new Mustang GT Convertibles this spring, that will be the vehicle to raise the hair on the back of my neck.

So, I'm splitting up the different needs across vehicles. I don't think my wife will be too happy about getting 3 new vehicles in the span of 6 months She just got a new GMC Acadia a few months ago.

Re: Man am I glad I ordered the Hemi!

Except for the altitude, and mild/moderate elevation changes, I actually have a very fuel friendly commute. I'm either going 69 mph with cruise control for 15 minutes, or driving 40mph at a very even speed with very few, well timed lights. In otherwords, I'm not in Chicago style, stop and go traffic. Despite that, I'm averaging 18.5mph with the V6 (and really trying to go easy on the pedal to max it out) after 5 days - not great. I can't wait to see what I get with the hemi after it arrives in a week with the same drive. I bet I will be 17 or better, because it won't have to up the rpms so much evertime I have to climb at all. If I'm getting 14, all the girls with their V6s can say "I told you so." If it is almost a wash, I will be doing

Can't wait to see the result!

Re: Man am I glad I ordered the Hemi!

I live in Colorado and I had an 05 V6 3.7L for about a year, bought it last Christmas, was pretty happy with it. That was until I drove it through the mountains to the family cabin, the power to weight ratio is so terrible, I was complaining every minute I spent on the highway because it was just way too slow.
I recently traded it in for an 06 5.7L and have been much happier with the extra power. I will say this thing loves the gas though, I spend alot more on gas than with the V6, and I mean ALOT more! But, at the end of the day I love my HEMI, and regardless how high these damn gas prices get, I'm always gonna have one now.

See thats kind of weird because the difference shouldnt be that significant. I mean the way you explained it was like you had an SRT8 or something. I used to have an 05 Limited Hemi and my sister has an 05 Laredo V6. Our averages are overall pretty similar. We do live in a flat area and just use them as daily street drivers, but still your two vehicles were more than likely driven similarly as well. Ahh well it is what it is. I would rather pay the small difference at the pump and have the extra power and sweet sound.

That was the whole reason I bought just the V6 in the first place, had no desire with the bigger engine at the time, but I never had the power when I needed it..or wanted actually. I don't know if the elevation here in Colorado makes a difference or something, but the 2 extra liter engine makes a big difference when driving up hills, passing cars on the highway, its the little things that count

Re: Man am I glad I ordered the Hemi!

I pick up the Hemi tomorrow! Since refueling Sunday, the average on my V6 rental WK2 is down to 17.6. I did a little more stop and go one day, and I went up to park city once in "snow mode," and I swear it burns more fuel in that mode. I will do some engine break-in this weekend on the hemi, and then reset the average before the work commute Monday and see how the Hemi does on fuel next week.
