If that's true, and I rather doubt it because if it were, every Chrysler Jeep dealer would have it. Much the same as all BMW dealerships come with 3 years of "free" service. But assuming you're right, then all that happened is they got a taste of their own medicine. They are expecting you to pay up front for 3 oil changes by telling you they're "free". When in fact they're anything but. So now they can wait for the money until they actually perform the service. Somehow I think they'll get over it.

Re: Maxcare opinions

BMW comes with the service whether you like it or not, its not itemized and its build into the price, Jeep does not as its a dealer add-on (not sure about the Summit program) but thats different from the discussion.

They're not doing me, or anyone else any favors charging for oil changes before you have them done. Or worse still, never asked for, but are forcing you to buy. What's next, charging for 4 extra tires at the time of sale, because eventually you're going to need them?
You can do what ever you want. But I can guarantee you put yourself on some sh$t lists. And just by your tone you probably took a year of life off for a $100.00. Good Job !! Relax for cripes sake. You totally spoil what should be a FUN experience.

Well it appears your "guarantee" isn't worth much. Because the salesman called me no less than 3 different times over a 2 week period, to ask me how the car was running, if I was happy with it, and if there was anything I was dissatisfied with, or any features that I need help with.

And when I called to make an appointment a few months later, to have some U-Connect updates installed, because the chip they sent me was useless. They apologized and told me to come right in, and couldn't have treated me nicer. Does that sound like someone who's on a, "$h!t list"? Look, I don't know where you come up with this foolish nonsense, but it is quite apparent you don't have much of a clue of what you're talking about.

What you don't understand, is when you are paying for a car with your money, and not the banks money, you tend to watch for things like that. Instead of approaching it with so much sympathy for the guy who's loaning you the money to purchase it. Trust me, they didn't lose any money selling me that car. They just made $100.00 less on it. Again, somehow I think they managed to get over it. And I drove home $100.00 happier.

I know one FACT for sure. You hate buying cars and I enjoy it.
I can clearly see why.
I'm sure your fight was well worth the $100.00.

As usual, you're wrong yet again. (No surprise there). I don't hate buying cars. I don't like paying for things I don't want or need. Or being foolish with my money. There was no "fight". I simply, and very politely told them to take off $100.00, or I would walk. They wanted the sale, so they did. Very simple, and very effective. It all took less than 5 minutes start to finish. $20 a minute was worth my time.

Re: Maxcare opinions

If you think that's bad I got charged $300.00 for some etching on the glass. I still don't even know what it's for something about if the Jeep ever got stolen they can trace it from the window glass.....

I got the 4 free oil changes which had to be done with in two years. I understand your point about having to pay for crap you don't want. But I figured I'll need to have the oil changed anyway so that didn't bother me as much as the etched glass.

When I picked up my Acura MDX I noticed $100 for wheel locks that I didn't want. It didn't bother me in the least. It didn't add to the price we agreed to for the car, so to me it was a no extra charge option. It was't free, but it didn't cost me more than I was willing to pay without them.

There are various opinions about how to shop for a car. We all do what works for us.

I know where you're coming from. Mine has got window tinting, door guard edging, and other dealer installed crap. I didn't complain because it was a new vehicle on their lot. So I had no choice but to accept it. It's all crap they pile on that turns them a better profit. But "etched glass" is a new one I've never heard of. They are never short sighted about coming up with ways to separate you from more of your money.

I remember back in Chicago in the 70's. All the dealers pushed that "Rusty Jones" and "Polyglycoat" crap. The cars you saw with it 5 years later had the worst paint with the most rust.

Etching is such an old scam I haven't heard about it in years. Back in the 80's a lot of dealer were having it done to every unsold order to hit the lot. I don't know if it saved or helped recovered any cars. But, with it the dealer could wiggle on price a little, and somebody had a job.

Door edging, window tinting, yuck, I never see that sort thing done around here any more. And I'd certainly gripe or walk if they added that after the handshake. If it was on there before the handshake and shown on the sticker then a deal is a deal. If I did see that crap on the sticker, I'd run from that dealer.

The Oil Change thing is not a Dealer Add On Scam. It's just built in. And on average probably cost them a lot less than even $100.00 because it's probably done while other service is done any way most of the time. And might be a way that they can stay on top of anything for YOU.

I won't even let the Dealer put a Decal or Armorall on it. Just wash it, do the technical prep and give me the keys please.

The only thing I "Suck Up" is the "Document Fees". They all do it. I'm sure it cost something and varies by state so it would be hard for Chrysler to build it in to Vehicle. You can fight it, if you want, I don't. I know it's in the price I'm negotiating in the end.

Typically they say Price is Agreed Price + Taxes + Title + Fees.

But you can ask for the cost of fees before you agree on price.

But the Oil was not an added cost. But like others said, the dealer just ate the $100.00
