MaxCare Warranty??

Whats your opinion on the MaxCare Warranty offered by the dealerships?

Recently purchased my 2011 Overland, was doin very minor off roading and ending up bending my tie rod, causing a domino effect, costing me 2200 worth of damage.. NON of which was covered under warranty.. Should I just cancel the warranty?

You can do what you want but I sure wouldn't. You would only have to replace your head unit once and you would have the price of the Mopar Service Contract back. I think if you read your Mopar Service Contract over carefully you will find it states something like it covers things broken or defective from normal wear under careful use. I don't think off roading of any kind fits that definition. Sure is nice to always have 5 days worth of a rental car too.

Re: MaxCare Warranty??

Yeah I did read it after I got back from the dealership. I think I was just more upset at the fact that the guy who sold me on it at the dealership basically said you can do anything to the vehicle and its all covered under warranty. Obviously it sounded to good to be true. I'm going to keep it. Especially after browsing through all the posts of people having problems with their quadra-lift. I'm terrified to have that thing break on me!

Re: MaxCare Warranty??

If the damage was caused by hitting something, your insurance company "might" cover it.

Re: MaxCare Warranty??

It's a MaxCare extended service contract, not a "warranty"...very different animal legally.

That said, I have the Mopar MaxCare Lifetime service contract and purchased it from Ziegler for FAR less than my dealer was willing to sell it for...like a thousand bucks less. I'm a high-milage driver and with all the electronics and tech, I felt it prudent to have the contract on my vehicle since I'll need to keep it for about five years before getting the next one. I'm already at 41K miles at 25 months of ownership...

And just to reinforce what I believe has already been understood, "damage by the owner" isn't likely going to be covered by a service contract or your original warranty if it's still in effect.

Re: MaxCare Warranty??

Ziegler is a Chrysler dealer in Michigan (I believe Michigan) that offers the Mopar service contracts online for greatly discounted prices...there are several others who do the same. There have been many discussions about this here and in other Jeep forums.

Re: MaxCare Warranty??

The lifetime MaxCare is a phenomenal deal covering mechanical IF you keep the jeep for a long time. If you are the type to get rid of a car every 4 or 5 years(assuming average yearly mileage) I would not waste money on it. Don't expect it to cover damage that you inflict on the car due to off roading though or any non mechanical like paint or trim. I think whether to keep it or not depends on how long you intend to keep the jeep.

Yes. The dealer that you purchased it from may even match the online deals though, so double check with them telling them you will cancel unless they match the deal and refund the difference now...

How much was the Mopar MaxCare Lifetime service contract you purchased? .. And is Ziegler a website? If so what is the site I would like to check it out.. I'm currently looking for the best deal on the Mopar MaxCare Lifetime service contract.. I have a 2014 JGC with about 5,000 miles on it.
