Maxicare lifetime warranty question?

My factory warranty expired today (36 months) at 25,000 miles. I purchased the Maxicare lifetime when I purchased the Jeep. I need to read the contract again but wanted to also ask here.

Do you need to get the vehicle inspected by the dealership every so many years to keep the warranty valid. I seem to remember like every 5 years or so and they put the inspection records in there system?

All my service has been and will be done in the future at the Jeep dealership. May cost me a bit more but if I do have a problem in the future it may avoid a big hassle with service records etc.

Re: Maxicare lifetime warranty question?

Normally, the first time you need service on the extended warranty, they *may* ask you to prove you followed the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule (in the owners' manual).

It looks like you are all good since all your service was done at dealer.

I believe the 5-year inspection was for the previously (and no longer) offered lifetime powertrain warranty and does not apply to MaxCare. I have read through my MaxCare paperwork and don't see any 5 year inspection stipulations.

From the FAQ on the previously offered lifetime powertrain warranty:
  • Q4: Are there specific provisions to the new warranty?
  • A4. In order to maintain the Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty, you must have a powertrain inspection performed by an authorized Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealer once every 5 years. This inspection, performed at no charge, must be made within 60 days of each 5-year anniversary of the warranty start date of the vehicle. It is your responsibility to perform preventative maintenance on your vehicle. You're strongly encouraged to follow the instructions contained in the Scheduled Maintenance Service guidelines in your Owner's Manual.
