Well keep us posted. I'm still going to look at the colors. I am getting an overland with the advanced tech group, black interior. Leaning towards a granite exterior but also like the maximum steel.

Speaking to one dealer today that is telling me they won't be beaten on price and are the largest volume dealer in the south east...I am trying to get some % below invoice to share and will post once I have something.

Received a response. The dealer is hesitant to offer pricing that is too low or too high for some reason. He stated he can offer 2% below invoice no problem and maybe more.

Right now I think we have a few dealers at 3% under and this one at 2% under. There is a group outside DC in Virginia that is at 5%-6% below invoice so I think that should be our target for the Atlanta general area. I would also be willing to drive a reasonable distance out of state if we could make something happen as well.

Re: Members Interested in Ordering New Jeep in Atlanta Area

Out of state is fine by me just make sure we don't have to pay sales tax in the buying state and then also pay the new Ga. title tax when registering the car in Georgia. March 1 is when the ad valorum tax is replaced by the title tax (6.5% of market value). I have found no info on how the state calculates the market value so for planning purposes I have been using MSRP at 6.5% for the title tax.

Agree...paying taxes once is bad enough but twice would be horrible!! I thought I read that it would be the purchase price and if you have a trade that takes $x amount off the price that portion isn't taxed either. For example purposes: Negotiated new vehicle price $40k - trade-in $10k = $30k the tax is only on the $30k. I have been trying to find the article I read that in first though and try to validate this is the case.

Your explanation is is how the sales tax works today. My understanding is that for the Title Tax no consideration is made on a trade-in. The new tax is strickly on the value of the car being titled but is only paid once. No more paying every birthday on that car. With that understanding there is no advantage of trading your old car in to the same dealer from whom you purchase the new one. So if the new car dealer won't give you a fair trade-in value on the old car - walk away and sell it to Carmax. Your title tax will be the same either way. <!-- / message -->

Its all here New Ad Valorem Title Tax ("TAVT"). This new bill is definitely going to help. We just pay that tax and no sales or use tax. Wont have to pay those crazy ad valorem tax fees either. Last year i paid close to $400 for my 2010 wrangler.

Oh yeah, you can see how TVAT is calculated on that page, which is just like JC stated.

Awesome! I'm glad they finally have that on their site.

Re: Members Interested in Ordering New Jeep in Atlanta Area

I bought my JGC about a year ago, too early to get in on the new tax deal. I paid almost $400 ad-valorem tax on mine last year. I don't know how the tax works for those of us who bought before the new deal took effect.

I did hear on the radio this am that if you brought a vehicle into Georgia you would have to pay under the new deal the first time you license the vehicle.

Anyway back to the original thread.

Re: Members Interested in Ordering New Jeep in Atlanta Area

Ed Voyles offer is 6% below MSRP so 1.14% above invoice.

Waiting for responses from 7 other dealers though and will update when I have more info.
