Re: Might as well call it a Mercedes Grand Cherokee

I traded in a 2005 mercedes for my JGC, I had nothing but problems with the car. When it wasnt broken it drove like a dream, but a few hundred a month in service for the vehicle was the same as my car payment for my JGC. I am much happier with my jeep even if it has a few mercedes parts.

I'm calling BS on all of this ^^

I'd like to see a Merc dealer give an SL, CL, CLS, SLS, E class, S class as a loaner. Or a 550 in anything for that matter. Youre more likey going to get a C 300. My step dad drives a new S550 4Matic AMG and had an S500 4Matic AMG before that. They are garbage... And you're lucky to get a B class or C class as a loaner, that's after they gouge you for $4000+ on a set of brakes that take a week to get there from Germany and a 2 week wait to get it serviced. MB is overpriced, over engineered and riddled with problems.

I agree with you they won't give you an SL, CL as a loaner, but you could get an E class, ML class as a loaner. Most MB dealers take cars off the lot to put in as loaners (usually the cars that don't sell because MB pays the dealer for it); BMW does it the same way. Since your step dad has had AMG's; those probably do have brakes that cost around 4k; but that is because it can stop you on a dime when going speeds north of 100 mph.

But back to dealers; yea my BMW dealer gave me excellent service and are very good with good will repairs; my Jeep dealer here in MA has been good so far too. I have only been in once, but they gave me a Liberty for a loaner (not a beat up minivan); the dealer is also clean and has great service and lounge facilities. I think chrysler is trying to improve its dealerships quality.

This all depends on who you know and what you are bringing in for service. At our previous dealer all the the loaners were C300 Sports, but I am pretty sure they had some higher end loaners for those bringing in the higher end models.

I really dont care what you call BS on I am just stating fact. This is just a simple case of mind over matter, I dont mind cause Moneen you dont matter. Oh and by the way Mercedes has never had a B class here in the US, it is planned to be released in 2012 but I am not so sure how alot of people have been getting them as loaners since they dont even exist in the US yet. LOL

Re: Might as well call it a Mercedes Grand Cherokee

not to be compared to Mercedes, but whenever I had my acura in for service, I've occasionally gotten their flagship sedan as a loaner car. With Lexus, we've only ever gotten ES and RX as loaners. Service from both have been exceptional. Seems like they go the extra mile to make you more comfortable (little things like free drinks and food while waiting, tank fill up and car wash at each service, etc.).

I have no complaints so far from the dealer where I have my Jeep serviced. I don't go in expecting them to be like Acura or Lexus, but I've gotten a free car wash a couple of times now.

My point is that you said you can pick any model you'd like including the SL class and the CL class, sure maybe they will give you one of those if it 4-5 years old, but it's hard to believe that they'd give a new $150,000+ SL or a $180,000+ CL out as a loaner. It's not a smart business move. People that spend $100,000+ on a vehicle don't want a 5 year old car for a loaner, that's why they give you a new C300 or maybe an ML350 or an E350 for the high end. Those cars will still sell with 10,000 miles on them as demos an SL will be a much harder sale.

I didn't realize that the B class wasn't available in the US. They're all over the place here.

I know he is from Canada but he is the one who originally questioned me and told me that only b and c class are used as loaners. It is also why I made the distinction of "in the US" in my post.

Lets just agree to disagree but,

I dont know about Canada but here in the US the CLS starts at around 70,000 and the SLK 50,000 so I dont know where 150,000+ and 180,000+ come from.

Re: Might as well call it a Mercedes Grand Cherokee

You said "cls, sls, and e550s" (check my quoted post for the unedited version.) you didn't say anything about an SLK.

And again, the prices I listed are in my currency, which is basically par on the US dollar.
